Map europepw :

After developing my fist map medseapw.mp (look on this site), I was somehow
disappointed, because I couldnt include England and Persia. Months later
I was pretty glad to find the roman.mp on this site. I want to send my
special thanks to whoever made it, because he created exactly the frame
I wanted. So I started working on it, confronting every detail with my
historical atlas. I transferred more or less my old map into it and then
reorganised the rest. This means that I changed almost everything. I think
it is now the most true and detailed map you have ever seen on civilization.
I would like you to note some details like the Pontinic swamps south of Rome,
the Pripjet swamps in Russia, the Aegean Islands, the German islands in the
North and Baltic Sea, the island of Elba, the gulfs of St.Petersburg, Riga,
Danzig, Stettin, Hamburg, Bremen, Amsterdam, London, the Wash, Edinburgh,
Bristol, Le Havre, St.Malo, Bordeaux, Ambrakia, the peninsula of Istria,
the wine hills of Beaujolais, the gold-mountains of Thracia, the lakes of
Geneve, Konstanz and Verone, the Alpes, Apennin, Pirenees, Sierra Nevada
and Carpazian mountains, mount Olymp, mount Aetna, mount Ben Nevis, the
oases of Siwa, Cufra and all the others in the Sahara etc.
There are lots of rivers now to facilitate your moves. This map is good for
at least 200 cities and I tried to facilitate especially the foundation
of historical cities. You can build about 20 cities in Italy (Rome, Milan,
Turin, Verona, Aquileja, Ravenna, Bologna, Genua, Florence or Pisa, Ancona,
Capua, Naples, Tarent, Brundisium, Crotone, Messina, Syracuse, Palermo, Carales,
Olbia), at least the same number in Greece (with islands and Ionian coast),
in France, Spain, on the British isles and in Scandinavia, in Germany, in
Russia, in Mesopotamia, in Egypt and in Africa.
I suggest you not to change ressource squares when you start your game. I tried
a lot until I found this combination that gives to all major historical capitals
(Rome, Athens, Memphis, Babylon, Byzanz, Syrakus, Persepolis, Tyros,
Marseille, Paris, London, Madrid, Berlin, Moscow) at least one goody square.
Furthermore I gave water to some of the oases and changing ressource squares
you would find yourself with a lake in the middle of the desert.

If you liked this map or have some suggestion, just let me know by mailing to

Hope youll have a good time and enjoy it.

Best wishes,
