As the population of the British colonies along the Eastern Seabord
increased, there arose the problem of overcrowding. The new Governor,
William Pitt, decided that the only way to move was westwards, where
migrants encountered France's 'Terres Neuves', and conflict ensued.
Native Americans also played a part in the war, with the Southern
tribes siding with the British, and the Plains tribes with France.

However, while this is going on, Russian settlers are migrating from
Alaska, and the fedgling 'New Russia' is taking shape. Also in on the
act are the Spaniards, the oldest colonial power, aiming to protect
their colonies, especially in Florida, where British settlements near
Tampa Bay are looking increasingly threatening. . . . .

Historically, the British conquered most of New France, and its prize
possession, Quebec, before driving the Spanish out of Florida and so
ending the age of the conquistadores. However, this removal of French
influence, some say, merely quickened the arrival of the independent
USA. As for Russia, realistic hopes of a colonial empire were dashed
when Alaska was sold to the USA for the princel sum of $7,200,000

Of course, it could have been a very different story. . . . .
