I. INTRODUCTION
---------------
This Mod Pak was created by Jeff Head to give a technically more realistic
feel and look to a number of units, advances, etc. in Civilization II from
a war gaming perspective. Four scenarios are included which use these
changes. Descriptions of the changes and scenarios follow :

II. CIVILIZATION II FILE CHANGES
--------------------------------
The following changes or additions have been made to normal CIV II files.

  A. RULES.TXT (See comments in RULES.TXT)
  ------------
-Minor changes to cosmic variables (ie. 30% penalty for Fundamentalism, etc.)
-Renamed many of the Technology Advances to more generic and acceptable names.
(ie. Conscription to Military Draft, Code of Laws to Civility, etc.) Also
 changed some prerequistites.
-Added three new Technologies, Art. Intell, Supercollider and Gravit. Mech.
-Changed Great Library and Leonardo's Workshop to last longer.
-Renamed many of the city improvements to more generic names that can
keep pace with changes millinia in the game. (ie. City Walls to City
Defenses, or Temple to Place of Worship and many more.)
-Renamed several units to be more appropriate for increasing technological
advances. (ie. Alpine Troops to Modern Infntry, Howitzer to Slf Prplld
 Howitzer, etc.)
-Changed capabilities of a number of units (ie. some attack for engineers, etc.)
-Created three new units, Mech Warrior, Asslt Hydrofoil and Cyborg. Also
commented out a Flying Saucer that can be used in place of Cyborg. Documented
each of the new units capability sections.
-Allow desert to be irrigated into plains, and plains into grasslands.

  B.GAME.TXT
  ----------
Have included two files, the game.txt file is for use before the Microprose
scenario CD and its new civ2.exe. This you would use with Mod Pack manager
or in place of the microprose game.txt when using this Mod Pack. Also have a
newgame.txt file for use with the new civ2.exe that comes with the scenario CD
by Microprose. This file could be renamed game.txt and placed in the main
civ2 directory, however then it is used for all scenarios/mod packs.

Extensively modified this file. Many of the dialogs have been revised, also
revised any areas so they would refer to the units we changed in RULES.TXT
rather than the normal Civ 2 units. We have changed any thing we could find
that allowed us to put the name of our Mod on to menus as well. This is a huge
text file and you need to use a decent editor that can load it all in if you
want to change it. We also revised some of the menu picks to be more in
keeping with the overall flavor of the game we are establishing ... generally
a little more agressive.

  C. LABELS.TXT
  -------------
Have included two files, the labels.txt file is for use before the Microprose
scenario CD and its new civ2.exe. This you would use with Mod Pack manager
or in place of the microprose labels.txt when using this Mod Pack. Also have a
newlabel.txt file for use with the new civ2.exe that comes with the scenario CD
by Microprose. This file could be renamed labels.txt and placed in the main
civ2 directory, however then it is used for all scenarios/mod packs.

Modified this file to put our Mod Pack name at the top of the Civ 2 WIndow.

  D. CITY.TXT
  -----------
-Added a number of U.S. cities from my travels over the years.

  E. CREDITS.TXT and SCREDITS.TXT
  --------------
Have included two files, the credits.txt file is for use before the Microprose
scenario CD and its new civ2.exe. This you would use with Mod Pack manager
or in place of the microprose credits.txt when using this Mod Pack. Also have a
scredits.txt file for use with the new civ2.exe that comes with the scenario CD
by Microprose. This file is placed in the main civ2 directory and the credits.txt
files is NOT used. With the game.txt file, this will call up the credits for MoreReal
while retaining the Microprose Credits.

These files give credit to all of those who helped my son and I to figure out Civ 2
over the last month or so. We had, had the game about 4 months when I stumbled
onto RULES.TXT on our own and started making changes. From there my son and
I figured out UNITS.GIF and had added the Hydrofoil, a new HUMMER, a MECH
WARRIOR and the TOMAHAWK. We thought we had done something novel, so
we were trying to get to Microprose to show them when we found the Ultimate Civ 2
Site and had our eyes opened. We have gone from there and this file tries to give
credit to that sequence.

 E. UNITS.GIF
 ------------
-Changed Engineer, modifying a gif from StarWars.
-Changed Howitzer to Selp Propelled Howitzer (155mm).
-Changed Mech Inf Hummer to a better Hummer with TOW launcher.
-Changed generic aircraft carrier to good Nimitz class picture.
-Changed Alpine troops (Yellow in Snow?) to Modern Infantry picture.
-Changed paratrooper to camo paratrooper.
-Changed Cruise Missile to an accurate representation of a Tomahwk (ALCM).
-Added Mech Warrior (Have two, am using one from StarWars, also have own).
-Added Assault Hydrofoil.
-Added Cyborg Hovercraft.
-Have Flying Saucer (From StarWars) that can be traded out for Cyborg.
-Changed several of the other units to graphics found in other Mod Paks.

  F.TERRAIN GIFS
  --------------
-Changed Desert in TERRAIN1.GIF to look more real.
-Changed Prairie in TERRAIN1.GIF to add a tree and more grain/prairie color.
-Changed Grasslands in TERRAIN1.GIF and made a little lighter green.
-Changed Ocean in TERRAIN1.GIF and gave a little lighter shade of blue.
-Changed Railroads in TERRAIN1.GIF to add power lines (still needs some work).
-Changed a couple of the roads in TERRAIN1.GIF to add a tree next to the road.
-Changed the Swamp in TERRAIN1.GIF, to make the watery part more easily seen.
-Changed the jungle in TERRAIN1.GIF to add a few taller trees for a second canopy.
- Changed background for Hillt, Forests and Mountains to match grassland.
-Redid Huts in TERRAIN1.GIF, will work more on this.
-Redid the Mine in TERRAIN1.GIF
-Changed Mountains in TERRAIN2.GIF to add more snow and pines. (needs work).
-Changed borders for ocean in TERRAIN2.GIF to match changes in TERRAIN1.GIF

  G. ICONS.GIF
  ------------
-Changed City Defenses (Walls) to give some perspective next to gate.
-Changed Hammer & Cycle for Modern Tech Advances to Statue of Liberty.
 (Red Blooded American)
- Have other changes to make here, but haven't gotten to it yet.

  H. CITIES.GIF
  -------------
-Chnaged Far East, Midieval and Modern cities to various ones found in other Mod Paks.
-Changed flags to flags found in World War Mod Pak.

  I. WAV FILES
  ------------
-Added CUSTOM1.WAV for Mech Warrior.
-Added CUSTOM2.WAV for Assault Hydrofoil.
-Added CUSTOM3.WAV for Cyborg or Flying Saucer
-Changed the following .WAV files. Some are completely new, some modified.

 aircombt fanfare1 fanfare6 jetcombt
 barracks fanfare2 fanfare7 mchnguns
 bldcity fanfare3 fanfare8 menuloop
 divebomb fanfare4 fire--- movpiece
 drumbn fanfare5 helishot navlbttle

III. SCENARIOS
--------------
-Added .MP, .SCN and .TXT files for the following four scenarios :

DAWNING Starting in 1805, based on history & full World Map.
CENTAURI First interstellar colony, stranded by World War III.
PARADISE Sequal to CENTAURI, new planet found using telepotation.
RINGWORLD Based on a RingWorld being found in the 2800's near Jacob's Star.

IV. INSTALLATION
----------------
If you have the new Scenario CD by Microprose :

Create a sub-directory under SCENARIO in the main Civ 2 directory called MoreReal.
Under MoreReal, create a sub-directory called SOUND. Put all of the wav files into the
sound sub-directory just completed. Put all of the other files into the MoreReal directory
    above Sound. Like so :

     c:\civ2\scenario\morereal\sound
                         : :
: :...... .WAV files go in here
:............... .TXT and .GIF Mods go in here

     IMPORTANT
     ---------
Specific changes to GAME.TXT and LABELS.TXT files for each Mod Pack are rendered
obsolete by the new civ2.exe. This is because these files have changed to accomodate the
new functionality in Civ II, and the program does not use any GAME.TXT or LABELS.TXT
files in the SCENARIO sub-directories. If you want to use the newgame.txt and scredite.txt
files I have created, rename newgame.txt to game.txt and load this file and scredit.txt into the
     main civ2 directory.

If you do not have the Scenario CD by Microprose:

Use Mod Pack Manager to load the files. Mod Pack Manager will create a subdirectory under
Modpack, which it created under civ2, with a name you define, ie. Morereal. Then, simply load
all of the files from this Mod Pack in there and rock and roll.
