Thank you to Steve Strayer for inspiration and the basic model!

BASIC INFORMATION (The Story):

The Communist Patch adds two governments to your Civilization II game: Communism and Praetorianism? Why Communism, you ask? Well, I always found that the default Communism government from Civ2 was lacking, it couldn't keep up at all with Democracy, even for a limited time, all it had going for it were the veteren spies. Also, I found Fundamentalism to be WAY overpowered, and the same goes for Fascism. Also, there have been fundamentalist Republics (Iran), and Fundmentalist dictatorships (Cromwellian England), so that definitely needed to go in my opinion. Also, both are government which have limited existence in our world. So, I renamed Fundamentalism to Communist.
But that left another dilemma: what to do with the old Communist government? I decided a military dictatorship, which have existed in their modern form for hundreds of years, would be best. So I set the prerequesites back a couple centuries, changed a few other things around and viola! Praetorianism! (Which comes from the Roman Praetorian Guard, who from time to time saw it their duty to take the reins of the government.)

INSTRUCTIONS:

After Unzipping, you should have the following items in the Comm 1.0 folder:

UNITS.BMP
RULES.TXT
TERRAIN1.GIF
TERRAIN2.GIF
CITIES.BMP
ICONS.BMP
CITY.TXT
GAME.TXT
LABELS.TXT
PEDIA.TXT
README.TXT

Now, backup all the files with the same names in your Civilization game directory, and copy all of the files in your Comm 1.0 directly into the Civilization game directory, and you're ready to play!

In order to play multiplayer games, everyone must have this patch, everyone.

WHAT CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE?

The major changes are that the Communism government has been replaced by Praetorianism, and the Fundamentalist government has bee replaced by Communism.
Another major one is that I made it go slightly more into the future, so everyone won't be throwing the same units at each other for years and years
-Unit Changes (there are many)-

Nearly all of the default unit graphics from Civ2 have been replaced in favor of ones that I deem "prettier."
The Fanatic has been replaced by a Peasant Army unit, which is very cheap to build, very weak, and available only to Communists.
Alpine Troops have been replaced by Infantry, and they now have a movement of two, to provoke more infantry use in attacks, and come with the advent of War College.
The Crusader has been completely eliminated, as that's the popular thing to do.
Armor has been made weaker, more of a defensive, "blocking" unit now, as was true historically. It still replaces Cavalry, it has a lower attack, but the hit points make up for that.
There is now a Jet Fighter which appears after the Heavy Bomber, but before Stealth, it has quite a "shelf-life" and is very useful.
The name Caravel has been changed to Longship.
A Zeppelin unit appears before Flight, and is obsoleted by Advanced Flight, it is weak, but can be used to spy or bomb.
A Dreadnaught has been added to precede Battleship, as also seems popular to do.
A swordsman has been added to give the legion a break (the poor guy runs around for 1000+ years!)
Heavy Armor has been added, as has the Dive Bomber.
I added an MLRS Truck, which launches short range rockets and ignores city walls.
Finally, there is the Hovertank, which is a helicopter-ish unit that appears in the future and is quite powerful.

Also, several units have slight changes in attack, defense, and movement.

-Tech Changes-

Please see the Civlopedia, or just play through a game, I changed a lot, but it should not be confusing, and if it is, let me know.

FINAL NOTES:

This is my first complete creation, so please go easy on me, but I want to keep doing this and deliever a quality product, so let me know any problems you have.
