WHAT IS THIS?
------------------------------------

When you build a wonder in CivIII a picture pops up showing you the wonder you built.
That's great and all, unfortunatelly to find out what the wonder does, your only choice is
to consult the civilopedia.

I modified the original images* by adding a CivIII style window (with a cool semi-transparent effect) that gives you the info you need right there on the picture.

Installation is straightforward as you're just going to be replacing the existing PCX files with these updated ones.

When you build a wonder you will now see the same picture you would have before* with the overlay that gives you the following info:

WHAT THE WONDER DOES
WHEN (IF EVER) IT EXPIRES

laid out as plain text, you can't miss it.

In addition to that in the lower right hand corner you will see a small ball with a number inside. This is the Culture per turn this Wonder gives you.

On the bottom, across the left side, you will see 6 tiny balls with the following letters grayed out:

C E I M R S

The letters stand for:

Commercial
Expansionist
Industrious
Militaristic
Religious
Scientific

Depending on the wonder, one or more of those could be noticeably black, if any of them are, the interface is telling you that this wonder could trigger a golden age for a civilization with the corresponding characteristics.

I hope you find this both visually pleasing (I think you will) and more importantly useful.

I also added an updated version of WonderBackground.pcx this is the actual window that the wonders show up on. With my addition you gain a small legend to the right that reminds you of what the C E I M R S initials stand for, and below it a larger legend that tells you which traits apply to which CIV. I will find this useful especially playing different civs all the time... this file isn't included in the list below and there are no additional installation instructions as it will just overwrite your existing file (which you will backup by following the installation instructions). If for some reason you don't like the additional displays, feel free to replace WonderBackground.pcx with the original from your backup folder.

happy Civing!

* In one case, the Sistine Chapel, I completely replaced the image (didn't just overlay it) my reasoning was that someone at Firaxis clearly used the wrong picture for this Wonder. The Sistine Chapel is essentially a huge chapel INSIDE the Vatican, the standard image depicts something that resembles a medieval fortification of sorts. Instead of that I used a vibrant (and illegal <grin>) photograph I took there this summer. The bright colors blend in perfectly with the rest of the images Firaxis provided.

Following you will find Installation instructions and a file list.

------------------------------------
INSTALLATION:
------------------------------------

1. Backup your original files!

 A. Go to your Wonder Splash directory. If you did a standard installation it should be:
      C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\Wonder Splash

 B. Create a new folder, call it whatever (BACKUP makes sense to me <grin>)
 C. Copy (NOT MOVE) the contents of your Wonder Splash directory into the BACKUP directory

2. Install the new files!

 A. Extract the PCX files into your Wonder Splash directory. Let it overwrite everything it wants to (you did backup right?)

3. Play!
