In the 1970's, it was discovered that chloroflourocarbons, or CFCs for short, eat away at ozone. Unfortunately, the ozone layer of the upper atmosphere (12 - 30 miles up) is what protects life on the planet from solar ultraviolet radiation. Without this layer, very little (if anything) would survive on the Earth's surface. Also unfortunately, the industrial world had been using CFCs for the past 40 years up to this point. In 1985 C.E., British scientists found that a hole had been created in the ozone layer over Antarctica. Despite the total worldwide banning of CFCs by 2000 C.E., there was still the problem of an enormous hole in the ozone layer. This problem was solved by Dr. Paul Dominique, who single-handedly came up with a means of generating enormous amounts of ozone, and pumping it into the air. Implemented in 2021 C.E., and completed 11 years later, Dr. Dominique was hailed as a hero by the scientific community, and the public at large.
