One of the first observable effects of the Genetic Revolution was when researchers at Emory University, led by Dr. Grace Motumba, finally located and controlled the gene inhibiting growth in the human adult. With this knowledge, by the mid-2120's, humans were able to grow back limbs and organs (within certain practical limits) when lost. The technology was enhanced by Dr. Zappa Smith's process for speeding up the growth cycle, involving minute robots able to knit together tissues quickly and precisely so that it would no longer take years to grow back a severed appendage. Aided by AI physicians, the process would now only take a matter of weeks, and the average lifespan stretched out to 98 years. This also spurred a revolution in fashion; it became commonplace for people to alter their faces, body types, and even genders at the drop of a hat, by manipulating the regenerative process.
