This file contains notes on installing the Satellite unit. It is a unit designed to reveal large sections of the screen similar to spy satellites today. It becomes active when the 'ADVANCE_SPACE_COLONIES' is discovered and is built by space cities. It has a view range of 10, has an attack of 1 and defense of 1 (so don't go trying to invade with this one). This is my first unit and is designed not to be too complex while I was learning the process. I couldn't be bothered writing a registery install program so you will just have to do it by hand. Hopefully my next units will be better (if I get around to them). At the end of this file is a list of ideas for additional units.

The installation process must be done in two sections

Section 1) Install files contained in this zip to the correct directories
Section 2)	Adding lines and modifing text files. As recommended with all modifictions, back up the files before you add the lines just to be sure
Section 3)	Suggested units

Please do not contact me for installation assistance. I take no responsibilty for any affects installation of these files of changes may have. The user accepts responsibility upon unzipping these files. Good luck and hope to see more units available.

Regards
Steve

P.S. I read somewhere that the new patch changes one of the wonders to reveal the entire map. I haven't tried this but if it does, you may want to alter the values in the units section of this file to use the 'Satellite' unit for a different purpose. The 'Satellite' unit should work with any existing game (even those which have already discovered the ADVANCE_SPACE_COLONIES advance).

Section 1)

There are several files which must be added to certain directories for the sprite to operate correctly. Below is a list of where to paste the files:

Add the file 'Satellit.tga' to the directory
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\default\graphics\pictures\

Add the file 'Sat_move.wav' to the directory
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\default\sound\

Add the file 'Gu94.spr' to the directory
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\default\graphics\sprites\

Section 2)

There are also changes required to the text files. Here are the text file changes to install the 'Satellite' unit

**********************************************************************
Add the line:

SOUND_MOVE_SATELLITE "Sat_move.wav"

to the file
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\default\gamedata\sounds.txt

under the '# Move Sounds' section

**********************************************************************
Add the line at the end of the file:

SPRITE_SATELLITE	94

to the file
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\default\gamedata\spriteID.txt

and at the top of the file where the number starts the file (i.e. 75), increase this number by 1 (i.e. change 75 to 76).

**********************************************************************
Add the lines at the end of the file:

ICON_UNIT_SATELLITE	"Satellit.tga"	"NULL"	"GAMEU001.txt"	"HISTU001.txt"	"PREQU001.txt"	"VARIU001.txt"	"Satellit.tga"	"STATU001.txt"

to the file
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\default\gamedata\uniticon.txt

and at the top of the file where the number starts the file (i.e. 72), increase this number by 1 (i.e. change 72 to 73). This uses some of the 'COWMOD' files for txt files in the great library. I didn't bother about changing them but if anyone wants to please go ahead and repost the satellite files.

**********************************************************************
Add the line:

UNIT_SATELLITE "Satellite"

to the file
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\english\gamedata\gl_str.txt

under the '#### Units STRINGS ####' section

**********************************************************************
Add the line:

to the file
..\Civilization-Call to Power\ctp_data\english\gamedata\junk_str.txt

under the '# UNIT DESCRIPTIONS #' section

**********************************************************************
Add the lines at the end of the file:
