				THE FALKLANDS WAR
				-----------------

This scenario commences in March 1983 when Argentinia has succesfully invaded
the Falkland Islands, or as they call them, Las Malvinas. The British have
sent a large force to try and dislodge them and have just established a
foothold on the islands and are beginning to bring ashore their land forces.

The scenario is accurately based on the actual events of 1983 and the forces
of the two sides in this scenario represent historical reality. The British
have a broad technical advantage and overwhelming naval superiority. Countering
this, Argentinia has significant numbers of recently purchased Cruise Missiles.
In the air, Argentinia has numerical advantage, whilst the British have
superior aircraft.

I have introduced the Sea Harrier for the British. This aircraft,
is similar to the Stealth Fighter in its capabilities.

I have also introduced Special Services units to represent the
British 'behind enemy lines' forces of the SAS (Special Air Service) and SBS
(Special Boat Service). This unit is essentially a beefed-up spy.

In the seas, the bitish have the Nuclear Powered Submarine which has
slightly greater range and attack characteristics compared to the usual
Submarine.

Finally on land, again the Argentinians have greater numbers and additionally have the
advantage of being well dug-in defenders, whilst the British have superior,
but outnumbered forces.

The battle, as in real life, is very evenly matched, despite the largely
different hardware possessed by the combatants. An intriguing contest.

To play this scenario, firstly (and most importantly) back up the following
files from the main Civ2 directory:

CITY.TXT
RULES.TXT
UNITS.GIF
CITIES.GIF

Then copy the files for this scenario into the main Civ2 directory. When
you start to play, choose 'Begin Scenario' from the first Civ2 menu and select
the TS02-F~1.SCN file. I hope you enjoy this scenario and would be pleased to
hear of your experiences, comments and suggestions regarding this scenario,
whether positive or negative.

I must thank Michael D.McCart (mccartm@ptialaska.net) as I used some
of his excellent unit designs in this scenario.
