ID1997 - Hale-Bopp v3.0

This scenario is based on several things.
When I first had the idea to do an ID4 scenario, no other
scenarios about that theme were available. But as you (may)
know, scenarios require a lot of time for development,
especially if you want it to be as authentic as possible.
Meanwhile I heard about the craze about the comet Hale-Bopp
on the Internet. I've got some background information for
those of you not familiar with the story:
A lot of people thought that Hale-Bopp itself was much larger
than admitted by NASA (some WWW-sites featured numbers,
saying that Hale-Bopp had even more mass than Earth ...).
The important thing is, some thought, there was a second
object following Hale-Bopp's trajectory. As it turned out,
what some people had photographed as the "companion" simply
were stars, their astronomy programs didn't show at that
position, because they had not used the correct settings,
i. e. they selected stars of a special magnitude in
brightness to be displayed and all others left out.
Apparently they had misjudged the objects brightness, since
every photo can be (according to serious astronomers)
explained with the presence of a star in the background of
Hale-Bopp. Anyway, some people went further and claimed that
the object was in deed an alien spacecraft, carrying a
massivey invasion force.
Well, there it was, my idea to distinguish my scenario from
the usual ID4 stuff. Since it took me even more time (I also
have other things that need time, like e.g. studying physics)
meanwhile Mars Attacks! was showing in theatres around the
world. That triggered the final idea: A crossover of these
themes: - Independence Day (ID4)
         - Hale-Bopp Craze
         - Mars Attacks!
         - the conspiracy around the Cigarette Smoking Man
(CSM) and his fellows featured in the X-Files
The plot is this: The conspiracy around the CSM has secretly
prepared the invasion of an unknown alien race. The Aliens
would in turn make them their liaisons to Earth's population.
Therefore they would be granted an amount of power, no
government on Earth would give them.
- The Aliens can negotiate with a human-played NATO
I did this to represent the unpredictable decision of high
ranking officials and governments affiliated with the Hidden
(the club around the CSM) (This means you can side with the
Aliens and make the world yours. A boring task given NATO's
military and the Aliens technological supremacy).

There is a problem with the events.txt file: Apparently,
there can only be a limited amount of events in the file.
Anyway, I have included the events I wanted to be featured
as well. If somebody can get them running, please let me
know.

If somebody can do better graphix, feels that I used his or
her graphix without crediting him or her or if you find
annoying bugs or just have any useful suggestion, please
contact me:

I will soon feature a Top 20 list for Civ II scenarios at:

>>>     http://www.geocities.com/Area51/2546     <<<

(Don't bother looking before I announce it at the CivII Heaven
Messageboard, but you can send me a list of your top five
favourites, since I can't make that list out of thin air.
Thank you in advance!)
