By the year 1290 b.C. the international system in the Middle East is again dominated by the Egyptian empire governed now by the great pharao Ramses II. (1290-1224) of the 19th dynasty.
His opponents are king Muwatalli of the Hethitians (1310-1285), who will meet him in the famous battle of Kadesch, and king Salmanassar I. of the Assyrians, who defeats the last Mitanni rebellions including this province into his empire.
This king also fights first against the northern kingdom of Urartu (Ararat) and prepares to move against Babylon.
The old capital of Mesopotamia, still suffering a financial crisis and foreign occupations, will only rise again after 1137 under king Nebukadnezar I. of the 4th Babilonian dynasty.

The catastrophy of the Hethitian reign begins however with the Trojan war.
After a visit to king Menelaos of Sparta, the Trojan prince Paris makes it off with the wife of his host, beautiful Helena.
Menelaos asks his brother Agamemnon, king of Mykene, to lead the Greek revenge.
Together with the two brothers the best of the Greek heroes get on board of their ships, to sail against the city of Troja governed by king Priamos and bravely defended by his son Hektor.
Among the other Greeks (Nestor of Pylos, Achill and Ajax) there is one little king of the small island of Ithaka, named Ulysses...
