A.C.S. LAUNCHES `GALCIV2` SECTION
(30 August 2005, 22:17 | About | 0 comments) Apolyton Civilization Site ( http://apolyton.net ) [ACS], one the premiere online fansites for the Civilization computer strategy gaming series and its extended family, is today launching their section dedicated to Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords developed by Stardock Systems.

"Five months ago we committed to covering GalCivII in full [see press release], and we always follow through on our committments", says ACS Co-Owner/Administrator Daniel “DanQ” Quick. "We are pleased to be serving GalCivII fans in the complete and comprehensive fashion that we are well known for doing for all titles in our line-up".

Initial section offers are broken down into the following categories: `News`, `Information`, `Screenshots`, `Videos`, `Forum` and `Links`. As with other ACS game sections, the `News` area will provide the ten latest headlines for the game from the in-house News Department and provide a shortcut to older items. All GalCivII news items from the Miscellaneous and GalCiv sections have been moved over. `Information` includes a general over, a change list between GalCivII and its predecessor and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. The FAQ is broken into two parts: on current known state of affairs, and a chat with game Project Lead Brad "Frogboy"/"Draginol" Wardell. `Screenshots`, `Videos` and `Links` are delivered through their respective sections within ACS` Directory which has been in operation for more than three years [see related story].

This is not the first time ACS has opened a GalCiv section. Coverage of the original GalCiv for the PC began on-site in January 2003 with the opening of a forum for the game [see story]. Full coverage followed a short time later. Located at galciv2.net, ACS` GalCivII section becomes the second game in ACS` line-up to be served directly off its own domain rather than an apolyton.net directory (the other being CivIV). After CivIV and ACS` re-vamped `About` section [see related story], GalCivII is the third site area to be driven by Apogee Information Systems` Essence software with a standardized layout and colour scheme.

GalCivII is scheduled for release in March 2006.

Eighteen in-game images, five pieces of concept art, six cinematic cut-outs and seven models bring the grand media total to thirty-six at present.

In late April of this year, ACS publicly committed to covering GalCivII completely and comprehensively as part of its gaming line-up [see story]. - DanQ
