    EARLY BUILD SPRITE EDITOR
(9 September 2003, 11:02 | CtP | 222 comments) A Sprite Editor for Civilization: Call To Power, and its successor Call To Power II, has been put together by Apolyton CS forum user `Martin the Dane`. The 417KB utility is an early build of what the final product will be. It is capable of displaying and executing sprite files in both of the said games, and in turn saving a displayed image in Windows Bitmap (.BMP) format.

Thanks to Maquiladora for the news tip. - DanQ

    `SUPERLEAGUE` SIGN-UP
(2 August 2003, 19:03 | CtP | 463 comments) It`s on again, it`s SuperLeague, the team multiplaying ladder. After the first season (started in September 2002), there was a want for a sequal, beng the relative popularity of the competition. The SuperLeague consists of teams of 2, playing off against the other teams for points, both in 2 and 4 player games (in teams).

The numerous polls for the settings of the tournament can be found in the Call to Power Multiplaying forum. Be sure to sign up quickly! - Frozzy

    NOMINATE YOURSELVES!
(8 July 2003, 22:23 | CtP | 44 comments) It`s that time of the month again! Despite last month we struggled to fill positions, we pulled through, and it`s time for you to answer the Call to Power Democracy Game`s (CtPDG) call and help Atlantis conquer the world in the challenge that is Democracy Games. For those that are unaware what a Democracy Game is, a comprehensive FAQ can be found in the CtP-Democracy Game Forum.

At time of writing, nominations are open for President, Minister of Defence, Minister of Infrastructure and Foreign Affairs and Minister of Domestic Affairs. For those who don`t feel like deciding the physical future of Atlantis, the position of Judge is also available. I know there are lots of people on Apolyton who can help us (PBEMers, this means you!), and we want to see some of the people who signed up to our CivGroup.

At present, 48 people are part of the CivGroup, but we need everyone of you if we want Atlantis to succeed in our war with the Greeks! - Frozzy

    IMPERIALISM SCENARIO IN THE WORKS
(19 May 2003, 19:10 | CtP | 3 comments) The spirit of CtP1 modmaking lives on! Frozzy has announced that he is working on a new scenario for C:CtP. This scenario will be set in the late 19th-early 20th century and will focus on the high-point European imperialism, and the beginning of European friction. It will be set on a world map and feature nations such as the UK, Germany, Russia, the US, China and other world powers of the time. It is fairly likely that this scenario will feature a strong AI (in the form of the Awesome Aips mod) and scripted events. Frozzy is welcoming suggestions and other comments in the forums. - Locutus

    SPANISH POWERSLICS
(17 May 2003, 19:21 | CtP | 2 comments) For the first time in this millennium a new file has been added to the C:CtP files section of Apolyton! Josgalo translated TP`s classic PowerSLICs v2.00 mod to Spanish, so that Spanish speakers and people with the Spanish version of CtP can play this mod in their native language. You can download this mod from the Apolyton Directory and discuss it on the CtP-Creation forum. Hopefully more CtP files will be added to the Directory in the future... - Locutus

    NO AWARD FOR LINUX PORT
(4 February 2003, 20:07 | CtP) The Linux port of Civilization: Call To Power failed to capture either the Best Non-Free Single Player Strategy Game or Best Non-Free Multiplayer Strategy Game category in which it was noimated in the inaugural `HappyPenguin` awards hosted last month by The Linux Tome. It placed fourth in both instances, tieing Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns in the former.

C:CTP captured 10% and 13% of the popular vote respectively. Sid Meier`s Alpha Centauri took first in the former aforesaid and second in the latter aforesaid running. The complete winners list is available for viewing by clicking here. - DanQ

    VOTE FOR OR AGAINST: `TLGT`
(20 January 2003, 01:11 | CtP) You have until January 26th to vote for or against Civilization: Call To Power as Best Non-Free Single Player Strategy Game and Best Non-Free Multiplayer Strategy Game on The Linux Game Tome. At the time of this posting, C:CTP is third and fourth with 11% and 14% of the votes tabulated respectively.

Competition in the former category is stiffer with more than twice the contenders than in the later. Sid Meier`s Alpha Centauri is a fellow nominee in both said categories as is Dominions, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns. - DanQ

    CTP DEMOCRACY GAME TO BEGIN!
(12 January 2003, 13:16 | CtP | 43 comments) The CTP1 spirit is still alive: The Call to Power Democracy Game is set to start as the interest is there!

The related civgroup has been created, joining is a click away(<- this click :)).

    Have fun! - MarkG

    DEMOCRACY GAME SIGNUP
(8 January 2003, 06:11 | CtP | 49 comments) As Democracy Games are underway for Civ2, Civ3, Alpha Centauri and CtP2, voices in the CtP1 community are calling for a CtP1 Democracy Game as well. For those who haven`t been following the many existing games, a Democracy Game is a game where a group of people play a single-player game of CtP. Decisions are made democratically through polls and government officials are elected to see to it that the will of the people is carried out. However, a Democracy Game requires a lot of discussion: dedicated forums and other resources (CivGroup, chat channel, news items) must be devoted to it. For this reason the Apolyton administration has decided that a CtP1 Democracy Game can only take place on Apolyton if there is sufficient interest in such a game. A signup thread has been opened and if at least 20 people indicate that they will participate, a Democracy Game can be started and the necessary resources will be made available. At the time of writing, 9 people had signed up. So if you are interested in participating in a CtP1 Democracy Game, or want to learn more about it, go to the signup thread. Vote for Democracy today! - Locutus
