It's on again, Super League, the team ladder.
Basically, it's teams of 2, playing off against the other teams for points, both in 2 and 4 player games (in teams). There was quite an elaborate points system in the 1st season (link below), but everythings up for renogotiation at this stage.
I for one would like to see a draw, every team playing every other team, and 2 teams only playing each other once in single player games (ie, if teammember A1 from A plays Teammember B1 from B, A2 cannot play B2)

But, as I say, the purpose of this thread is to thrash these details out.
Thankyou checkMate for volunteering to keep the ladder updated.
Oh, by the way, last season single player games counted (if both players agreed) in the PBEM Challenge Ladder, I suggest we maintain this.
Here's the second thread of the 1st season, the link to the 1st thread will be on it.

how about a pure table of teams, like the word 'League' suggests ?
doesnt have to exclude any part of the current system. might be an addition.
what i mean is this:
the 'League' consists of all the 2 person teams and every team plays every other team.
there is a score for winning games (matches) and an in-game detailed score (score).
the first criterion for the ranking table then are the matches won by a team. in case of a tie with another team, the score will determine the position.
for example, the completed table after a season might look like this:
Rank / Team / Match Points / Total Matches / Score
1. / Team E / 9 / 5 / 67
2. / Team C / 6 / 5 / 45
3. / Team D / 6 / 5 / 38
4. / Team A / 5 / 5 / 42
5. / Team F / 3 / 5 / 29
6. / Team B / 1 / 5 / 28
got the point ?
what do you think ?

I think this is how the teams were "reletavely" even last time.
Also, I concur with Rickety about everyone playing everyone (except for teams). The 2x2 games should still count for double points, and speed of victory should be accounted for.
Either way, I'm in for another season |
so what kind of ranking system are we talking about here ?
and what is the basic concept of it, meaning who gets ranked for what ?
i would suggest the league system i described above, possibly with single player games thrown in.
each team would play each other team once in a 2on2 game and would choose a 'representative' in each of 4 single player games with each other team.
so considering 5 teams total, there would be 4 team games for each team and 4 single player games, two of which player 1 of the team would play and two of which player 2 would play (so as to divide the single player games evenly among the team members).
a team game would count as 2 points, a single player game as 1 point.
the speed and other criteria used before would go into the 'score' of the teams, which, as stated above, would be tie-breakers if the match points of two teams are equal.

i'd rather have the games last longer than deduct points or fun (like tiny maps which i dont like too much)
but i like your idea, david, to have the second single player match start when the first ended. this way, there is also some kind of revenge involved.
quick start mod is a good idea, though im quite a purist and generally prefer no to use such 'helping' mods that even out the starting conditions, but i see that it will likely be necessary.
how long has it been since the start of last season ?
i mean i real season i sports like soccer, football, ... take a full year too.
