Some like Civ 3, some don't; some adore SMAC, some don't... but no-one could ever dispute the wondrous achievement of Civ2. The only drawback of this version is that it doesn't have multiplayer. Sure, SMAC brought a whole lot of improvements to the table (like borders, and being able to bully the AI into giving you its cities), and Civ 3 brought improved diplomacy (whilst breaking other things that didn't need to be broken)... but Civ 2 just improved on Civ 1 in every way possible, and made itself a permanent fixture on my hard drive that I still play regularly (including today, in December 2003).
How many games from 1996 are still on my hard disk and played today?
