Scenario Intro- The year is 634 A.D. The large but decadent Byzantine and Persian empires are weakened after centuries of fighting. In the west, the catholic Franks drive the Visigoths into Spain and Langobards into Italy. Meanwhile, in the Arab peninsula, the great prophet Muhammed has died. His successor is the young and bold caliph Omar ibn al-Khattab. The fearless Arabian horsemen stand ready for conquests, determined to fight and die for their faith. Historically, they conquered the Persian empire, Byzantine possessions in Asia, and advanced into Spain before being stopped by the Franks. You have until 750 A.D., when the Abbasid descendants of the Prophet will revolt and replace your Umaiyad dynasty. |
