A lot of units to keep track of. Some questionable graphics. Still, it is one I return to again and again.

Colonies Trilogy is best ... and this is cool!

This is a very serious scenario, with the best rendition of naval power I have ever had the pleasure to witness in a civ game. Top marks also for cav versus infantry, special national units, treatment of trade, lots more.````Civ development, however, has both good and bad points: It's easier to get the Caribbean up and running than eastern america -- good, accurate. It's easier and much more profitable to expand in Europe or even the Sahara than to monkey around in the woods of New York and Virginia -- not accurate, frustrating.````If you have at least FW, download this scenario. It's not perfect, but it's the best available.

John Ellis made a beautiful and detaled scenario, that realy gives you the mood of being in the colonization period. I had a lot of fun. In the next version, though, John, I would decraese the number of units to create a faster game.

Well, I for one think Colonies II was better. This one is excellent, of course, but not quite as captivating as the former.

I have scenarios. They are fake and unreal, I almost never play them. But I love this one, great!

Very innovative and entertaining...takes a little getting used to the different units, e.t.c.

Colonies II was a great improvement for Colonies I, as was Colonies III for Colonies II, which didn't seem to require improvement.````But somehow, John Ellis managed to outrank his previous work by offering precious attention to details. Almost all (if not all) of the scenario files have been altered to create a truly immersive scenario (and to prevent anachronism, unlike "New World"). Unfortunately, I was unable to find the sound files for this scenario, but I am certain that they would make it even greater.````I have only played the native tribes and I imagine that playing the invaders is also interesting (and an entirely different scenario in itself).

An improvement on his excellent scenario Colonies II. Definitely deserves a look, although it requires FW to play due to new units and such.
