COLUMN #94; BY LORDSTONE1 (22 January 2000, 22:08 EST/Misc) Inspired by Iain Lindley's account of his Apolyton forum addiction, Lordstone1 has taken it upon himself to write an article of his own, in response, entitled A Recovered Apolytolic's Message.
In his column, LS1 discusses the twelve steps which he has followed to overcome his addiction, and what happened along the way to "recovery".

MEDIEVAL MOD BUG AND FIX (27 January 2000, 17:46 EST) If you have downloaded Wes Whitaker's Medieval Mod 2.1, then you might have experienced crashes. The problem is in the uniticon.txt, download a new version of it(3K). More info on the related forum thread -MarkG
TROPHY FOR APOLYTON (28 January 2000, 20:10 EST) We are glad to recieve CanalCIV's pet-trophy that awards Apolyton CS as "the best web of the net", as where the exact words of XarXò, co-webmaster of the (soon to be) multilingual civ site. If you're wondering about the image of the trophy, it's name is "Dryad" and was a gif obtained from "Secret of Mana", a game of Super Nintendo :) -MarkG

AL&PD's services are two: if you have the game, you can share your opinion about it, writing a short review and giving a rating. If you dont have it yet you can see at the reviews and even buy it through Amazon. Obviously, as the entry was just added, we dont have any reviews for CTP for Mac. Please add yours! -MarkG
MAC CENTRAL REVIEWS CTP (28 January 2000, 20:39 EST) The Mac CTP Page reports one of the first reviews for the Mac port of CTP on MacCentral.com. The review is quite positive and ends with the following: "If you're a Mac gamer that enjoys strategy games but has never played Civilization 2, run to your nearest store and pick up a copy of Civilization: Call To Power. If you're a seasoned Civ veteran, there are so many similarities to Civilization 2 that you'll feel right at home. There are other areas though that are completely different, so you may need to relearn what you know -- but in the end, Civilization: Call To Power makes it well worth it." -MarkG

NOW IN VERSION 1.1.1 (28 January 2000, 22:30 EST) Concerns raised by observant Mac MGE players have been confirmed by MacSoft and what has resulted is yet a new version of for its users to download. Version 1.1.1 was released today, and we at ACS have updated our copy accordingly; the file size remains the same modest 1.27MB of its short-lived predecessor.

MAC CIV2 GOLD 1.1 PATCH (26 January 2000, 14:22 EST) MacSoft release the v1.1 patch for Civ2 Gold for Mac. It's 1.27MB and you can download it from the site of either MacSoft or from GT Interactive. There are many fixes(see official page, but people on the forums report crashes when even a single unit moves! Keep your eye on our civ2-mac forum and this section for more news on the matter. DEMO 5 DISCUSSION (26 January 2000, 19:16 EST) Mark Everson, Project Lead for the Clash of Civilizations project, has started a forum thread discussing the plans for Demo 5; this includes what he is expecting from team members responsible for model leads, programmers, and more.
At present, Mark is proposing to the team that they shoot for a end of February release for Demo 5.
"Too much rushing will IMO result in large amounts of effort being wasted due to miscommunication etc", he said. -DanQ

LINUX PATCH MIRROR (22 January 2000, 15:28 EST/CtP) With LokiGames' recent release of patch v1.2 for the Linux port of C:CTP, we are in the process of updating our file database here at Apolyton accordingly.
We are, as of today, offering a mirror for the English version of the port for all supported Linux platforms (x86, PPC and Alpha); to download, follow this link.
