STELLAR CIVILIZATIONS

REVIEW BY JASPREET SHAHEED
Okay... Having reviewed other Civ type games it is easy to be skeptical. The claims that Stellar Civilisations makes are not nearly as grand as other games I have reviewed. Do games always fall short of expectations. Are Stellar Civilisations goals more likely to be reached because they are less ambitious?

Galaxy settings screen(click to enlarge) These are questions that can't be answered until we see some results. Certainly there will be a helluva lot of competition for Stellar Civ; Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri & CTP the most publicised, Ancient Prophecy & Manifest Destiny less publicised but potentially equally damaging competitors. Stellar also have a release date in the distant future, so it is difficult to say whom they will compete with.

As for the game itself the main feature above and beyond civ will be the virtually unlimited numbers of players and AI assisted management. How amazingly brilliant would a game of Stellar Civilisations be with 20 or 30 players. It would be slow and hell to those of us who have a phone bill (Who would live in the UK like me?), but for you lucky American s*ds (with your free phone calls) it would be worth it.
