STELLAR CIVILIZATIONS

REVIEW BY MARKOS GIANNOPOULOS

INTRO
Space civ? So, you just change the terrain, each city becomes a planet and there you have it! The team of Eclipse Software says no. Stellar Civilizations has much more tooffer.

YOU
You are the leader of a race, that has just got the ability to get out of it's own planet and plans to colonize your solar system and then the entire galaxy. A bit boring to start from from nothing all the time? Yes. So, you get another option: you start by controlling a system and get into the action immediately. Your race is not the same with everyone else's(like in civ) but you have advantage and disadvantages which you choose at the start, so a lot are depending on your choices!

SO WHAT DO I DO?
As you usual on a strategy game, you build your bases, collect resources(energy, minerals, organics and capital), build ships and colonize new planets. Soon, you will make contact aliens(why don't if they are green or not :)) and on that point SC promises to bring new ideas in the diplomacy and espionage part of the game.

DIPLOMACY? WAR IS BETTER!
The warmongers will have various type of ships to use in battle, ships which they will design during the game, compining various parts. Fighting ships will be able travel anywhere in a system, but in order to move between system they will have to use a jump gate or to be carried by a carrier ship. Since, maintaining a fleet will require loads of money, in periods of peace you will be able to monthball it, lease it or even sell it.
