ANOTHER LOOK AT C:CTP
(19.Jul) Take a look at this excerpt from the July 16th article from GameCenter as it takes it's First Look at C:CTP.
Also, GameSpot has highlighted C:CTP recently. We invite you to take a look at the
screenshots found within the article (they're all very impressive!)
MICROPROSE FINANCIAL TURMOIL CONTINUES
MicroProse has weathered some severe financial storms in the last several months. Most recently, it announced disastrous 4th quarter earnings and issued a 1 for 5 reverse stock split in response to
NASDAQ'S minimum bid requirement, which is $5. MicroProse's stock had reached a low of $2, forcing the company to split the stock in order to drive its price above the NASDAQ requirement. The closing of their Austin
studio seems to be the first in a round of strategic maneuvers to refocus its business and allocate resources to its most viable products. MicroProse would not release the number of personnel who lost their positions
as a result of the Austin closure. [Courtesy GameCenter].
CIVILIZATION: CALL TO POWER SHOWING PROMISE
PCGAMER's August '98 issue just hit the store shelves (and subscribers mailboxes) and their preview look at Activision's Civilization: Call To Power is well done ---
not just from a presentation point-of-view, but this game looks like it may play down any doubts anyone had about it just being an "ordinary sequel". Thanks to Activision for sending us an image of the
official
C:CTP logo. We highly recommend you go out and buy this month's issue of PC Gamer and see for yourself!
IT'S ALL OVER!
It's over! On one of our regular visits to various gaming sites, we are happy to pass along that all three companies involved with the battle over the name "Civilization" is over. Microprose will have all rights
to the Civilization name and Activision will release Civilization:Call To Power under a licence from Microprose. Activision will also publish Microprose's Civilization II for the Playstation! We will now link you to the press release on Activision's website.
Also, Activision released a fact sheet for the upcoming C:CTP. Much too long to summarize; so you can read the whole thing here. Our thanks to TFGC2S.
