Like the name says, it's about the imperialism in the beginning of the 20th century. Almost the entire planet has been conquered by the nationalistic imperial powers, which are already heading directly into a world war.

You can play the imperial powers of the British Empire, France, Russia, Germany, the USA, Italy, Spain/Portugal, Japan or the Netherlands/Belgium.

Or you play the more spectating than acting nations like Brazil, Argentinia/Chile, Central Americans (Mexico, etc), Venezuela/Columbia/Peru, Scandinavia, the Balkans (Austro-Hungary, Greece, etc).

When you want a real challenge, then play one of the old nations which have not (entirely) become victim of the imperial powers yet: China, the Ottomans or the Independant Countries (Persia, Abessinia, Tibet).

The victory conditions diplomacy and culture are disabled, but besides that, the original C3C game rules are not changed. The scenario has no time limit and no technologies were disabled. There are no new units, improvements, etc. Corruption is set to 40% at the easiest difficulty level, and increases by 10% with every next level.

The scenario is based on a 260x160 world map with 18 civs. It does take quite a time to initialize the scenario (about 14 minutes on my 1,8GHz/512 MB RAM), but playing the game is acceptably fast when it has once been loaded.

New: In version 1.1, there are more turns per year, and techs take longer to be researched. That was changed in order to put more emphasis on the actual "Age of Imperialism".

Modifications in Version 2.0:

- Two of the civs which had previously been bunched up with other civs are seperate now: "Scandinavia" and "Venezuela/Columbia/Peru".

- The colours of some civs have been changed (the Ottomans f.e., in order to distinguish them better from the British)

- The spelling of several cities has been corrected to standard English names

( Napalm Eddie, 08-11-2004) Fun to play, if you have the time. Takes a long time between turns, but it's understandable. I like how the countries ally up. You have to watch out who you attack becuase you could easily start a World War. Tech takes a long time to get. No new units unfortunatly.
( heiminglee, 11-25-2003) Russo-Japanese War was happened in 1904-5, so NE China was in under Russia control. Tibet is under Chinese control from The Mongol Yuan Dynasty, even there was under British influence. French influence was bigger in Canton except Hong Kong. Shanghai had multiple nations' influence, from British to the USA. Russia demanded and received the right to construct railroads across Manchuria, as well as additional exclusive economic rights throughout that region. The Qing granted other exclusive rights to railroad and mineral development to Germany in Shandong Province, France in the southern border provinces, Britain in the Yangtze River provinces, and Japan in the southeastern coastal provinces. ref: ms encarta & my chinese history book (hong kong)
