This is not question (though your answer is also rather discouraging ). Everyone wants to be a hero, and "save the human race", esp. since sex is involved. But the fact is, that humans ARE facing the problem of negative growth.

Europe's birthrate is down to be sure, but last I checked Humanity is still good for unsustainable numbers of people through to mid-century. 8.000.000.000 if I remember the UN's estimate correctly.

I thought the World's population was still growing. Do you have a source for your comment or do you simply mean tyhat the world's population is growing at a lower but still positive rate.

I don't see the problem though-- If the earth only had 500 million people rather than several billion, I don't believe our risk of extinction would be that much greater
