It's a paradox that just does not make any coherent sense -- Americans who have served in our military, who still display the Confederate flag. Interesting paradox, indeed.

You just have to try to understand what it is to be southern.

Dean is trying to get in touch with his "southernness" - at least he's learning the shuffle.
