I. Your Apolyton alter ego and your real life
Is it important to you to be noticed at the forums? That someone replies to your posts, read your threads? In short, to be "somebody"? |
Yes it is very important for me to be noticed at the forums. I continually check back in threads that I create or threads in which I talk to see if peopl have responded to me and acknowledged my presence.
I feel very happy when people read my posts and respond.
I don't exactly feel depressed when people don't notice my posts, since I understand that everyone can't read everything, but I am devastated if someoen says something nasty to me on the Internet- it ruins my day- I have spent several sleepless nights because I annoyed someone on the Internet whom I respected and liked.

If you feel neglected at Apolyton, does this influence your real life? For example, if you feel attacked by another poster, does this make you sad in real life or you don't care? Similarly, if you feel that someone (who you've never met!) likes you, does it make you feel good IRL? |
Indeed! I love it when people love my posts!

II. Apolyton for Apolyton's sake
Is your Apolyton alias something you treasure? Do you want to be respected by other Apolytoners or are you just out to wreak havoc in the fora? |
I want to be respected by other posters. I treasure my Apolton persona because that persona IS ME! This is like real life for me.

Do your posts reflect a desire to be liked or do you want to drive people nuts? In short, do you have a purpose with your Apolyton identity, are you creating a "brand name"? |
My 'brand name' is a kind guy who likes to organize things and cares about people... I knew when I registered for Apolyton that the only way I could become noticed was if I was known for something- and so I started brainstorming at what I was good at- and I arrived at... 'lists' and so I started forming and making lists! And I really enjoy doing that! Thus, I really enjoy apolyton!

III. Your Apolyton identity and yourself
Does it reflect who you really are or are you just living out dark sides of your personality that you'd never show in real life? |
Nope. This is me. Through and through. Nice and pedantic (with lists)

it was that very identity that i sought to protect when i posted here for the first time. a real life situation had spilled over onto this site and someone was slandering me on the board to complete strangers. it set me off so i came here to defend myself and stayed.
for many years my real self and online self have been one and the same. i guess to a certain extent they still are, but i'm not online every waking moment i'm not at work like i used to be. i've actually started frequenting the tangible world some..so there may be a growing gap between the two halves...
