I suggested to Santa that he institute a Zen program for the elves where they would use visualiztion to improve their productivity. It was entitled "be the sex toy", but Santa was too traditional for such a thing, and now look at the mess.

One of my favorite quotes is from William S Burroughs when he was asked his feelings about the American flag. His reply was:

"Soak it in heroin and I'll suck on it."

In about 30 hours I can start telling what I got for Christmas... I wont be able to tell it to you guys though, since I'll be far away from my computer tomorow

And I don't even have a clue what I'll get

And hopefully my family wont know until they unwrap their gift either. I always try to pack the present in a weird way, making it hard to tell what's inside (e.g. I bought a video tape, but the present looks like some design'ish cd-holder)
Anybody else who does anything like this?

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Only one I've opened so far (in error, honest) turned out to be a rather nice velour throw blanket with quite a funky design on it - perfect for tarting up my knackered old sofa.

The rest I'm not sure of, but all fits into cards so is probably a couple of vouchers and cash.

When you get into your mid 30s, this is quite a good haul... so count your blessings!

Despite my repeated requests not for commercialism, I have looted:

A Calendar (most useful)
A Diary (Of no use to me; probably going to be a chain-gift)
Monopoly (w00t)
A set of cards and dice (also w00t)

Of course the largest gift I will recieve will be the company of others and the witticisms they bring, of course.
The main gifts I can give are respect, information and my presence.

That stuff seems better than money to me...
(BTW Monopoly w00t time to 0wn some n00bs)

Only thing I've gotten so far is a novelty lamp-type thing. Looks kinda cool

As for what I've given or am giving:

-Bottle of tequila to a friend
-Gift card to my friend's favorite restaurant (or one of them at least)
-Complete Works of Oswald Chambers for my mom
-Biography on Dwight Eisenhower by Stephen Ambrose for my sister (Ike is one of her personal heroes, I guess you could say)
-Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit for my sister and her fiance (although that gift is half for me )

Got a few stuff for my "new" appartment

And a few old movies on DVD (Blade and Coming to America)... have had both on my wishlist
Then I start reading on the back of the Blade box to see what's on... lots of interesting stuff and such... bla bla bla... subtitles, 5 different, bla bla bla... subtitles not optionally...
Nooooooo... that's 50% of the reason why I prefer DVDs... to get rid of those damn subtitles, and now you're telling me it's not possible

My lovely fiancee gave to me:

Two snazzy ties--including one with hockey all over it
Tenacious D--The Complete Masterworks
And a sweet poker set, with a couple decks of cards and five different colors of weighted clay chips--awesome.

She also wants to take me shopping for an overcoat (for my interviews) and a new wallet. Love that woman.

Hm.

XBox (W00t! Or something appropriately geekspeak)
- Soul Calibur II
- THUG

LOTR: TTT Extended edition DVD
leather gloves and jacket
coffeemaker (more to my fiancee than me)
the new Turtledove book
a couple of the nice memory-foam pillows
blanket (my old one was shedding everywhere)
shaver
resteraunt money
real money
a couple of other minor things
something special from my fiancee

That was from my family & fiancee...we haven't been to her house yet, though I don't expect much from them since they're not what you'd call pleasant folk. Somehow, my fiancee made out better with my family than I did...I suspect they like her better than me. This is not totally unexpected, I guess.

That being said...anybody know any good XBox games?
