Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Cherries are great, they're the most fun to pop. Fruits are fun all around, provided they're not flaming.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Too many to choose from!!

I chose pineapple only because i fell in love with them on a trip to Queensland back in '73.

Mangoes definitely rate as the best smelling fruit, but for taste grapes are hard to beat. Cherries are delicious and exotic, but cost a fortune. Apricots are best when dried, and peaches are just peachey!!

It's no surprise that the garden of eden was populated with fruit! T'is the nectar of the gods!! (at least their, um, nectar is )

That's not real mango. Try the ones from Thailand instead

What do you mean by that? Green mangos are just non-ripe mangos (ripe mangos being orange of course). They're more sour and less sweet and the texture is firmer.

Finally, a poll where the banana option is actually serious.
I'd vote tomato if it were there.

According to my dictionary "Berry: a small fruit" and "Fruit: a large berry"...
Things move around in circles - like two heavenly bodies circle around their common gravitational center...

I chose Blueberry - very very good with ice cream. And it also makes excellent pies

I like the more exotic ones (they are exotic if you're from northern climes):

the guava. Can be made into ice cream or conserve, or eaten as is, and has the capability of perfuming a whole suite of rooms with its delicate scent. It's always good to come home to a few of these in the fruit bowl- the house smells so welcoming.

The papaya- good on its own, for breakfast, or with berry fruits, with lime and a sprinkling of ground pepperberry. The heat of the spice brings out the sweetness of the papaya. Great with prawns in Thai-style salads, and steamed with rice, oh yum yum, gimme some!

The feijoa- I had some delicious New Zealand jams made with feijoa and tamarillo- lucky Kiwis.

The avocado- I like them in salads, as spread (Israeli style) on top of chilli, in naan breads, as a sweet drink, Indonesian or Brazilian style.

Dragonfruit. Introduced to Australia from Viet Nam (I think) it looks formidable but tastes like heaven on your tongue.

And let's hear it for native Aussie fruit- the bush tomato (dried and ground make a great topping for cheese, or white fish), the native lime (tarter than the average lime) the Illawarra plum (superb for a sauce for kangaroo, or duck, or goose) and the Kakadu plum (more vitamin c, pound for pound, than any other fruit- and makes a terrific relish or jam).
