One of them, alone would be ugly. But two of them both calms the tone and emphasizes their size at the same time. They made a great recognizing feature or center to pictures of the skyline, they were loud and distinctive (and who gives a **** if it's a cube? I'll take one over whatever else there is, a spherical building or whatever, any day.)

What are you talking about? There's beauty alone in size, and it looks twice as good when it has a twin.
A building holds things, it's not something to be framed in a museum (even if it is by coincidence as is the WTC, good-looking.)

Next to the WTC, I never really thought about it, but the Flat iron has more appeal than things like empire state or chrysler.
