Yeah, he did say that. But thats not a good quote to give an idea of what his character is. He does drop the rock and request for a hand to hand combat after all... (despite wesley not seeing how fair that could be... )

Buttercup's better in the book -- her character (or lack thereof) is better described by a narrator than it is through dialogue.
