I am gone for exactly 24 hours, and there's already 69 replies! Time to get this back on track.
It was another sunny morning at Rah's Inn. The server ladies were entering the rooms, serving breakfast to the guests, and the owner himself was quite pleased with how the things were going. Quite a few people had decided to stay at the inn last night. There were a few visitors from other villages, and also there was Comrade Tassadar, who had attended a party last night and was so drunk he couldn't drive home (you know, driving carriages under the influence is an offence, and inspector Hercules would never loose such a chance to give Tass a ticket).
One of the ladies, a blonde with very seductive shapes, knocked on the door of the room that Tassadar stayed in. She had the tray with breakfast in one of her hands. Noone answered to the knock, so she knocked again, louder, and shouted about the breakfast being served. Getting no response to that either, she decided Tassadar must have gone to the bathroom, or is taking a shower, and decided to put the tray down on the table in his room. She unlocked the door. Comrade Tassadar was lying on the bed, on his back, with his eyes closed. The woman figured he must be sleeping and proceeded towards the bed. She put the tray down on the table beside the bed, and leaned closer to Tassadar, to wake him up.
All of a sudden, she realized: he was dead! The woman screamed, and stepped back, knocking over the table, and the tray with food, spilling the coffee on the carpet.
Tassadar was covered with a blanket, and only his face was seen above it on the pillow. It was sort of greenish, as if the man had been poisoned.
The woman started crying. She was in shock. But the worst was still to come. She took the blanket off Tassdar, and gasped, covering her mouth with a hand, so as to not add her own breakfast to the mess she saw on the bed.
The sheets, and the blanket, and probably the mattress below, were drenched in blood. Tassadar's shirt was open, and on his chest, there was cut a writing: "I am back!" A stiletto was also buried in his gut so deep, only the very tip of the handle was showing.

Hmmmm... I'm gonna say Jon Miller, based on the infalliable serial-killer logic: "It's the quiet ones you gotta watch."

Who knows the inn better than Rah?
Rah has keys to all the rooms.
Has Rah every agreed with Tass?
Therefore the Mafia is obviously Spaced Cowboy.

You're not the only one. As I read the kill, I was thinking WTF, I must have killed him, but alas, it was just another senior moment before I remembered that I didn't. I hope this doesn't turn into one of those, "IT was a hammer so it must have been the blacksmith" type of things. Hmmm, wait, it was the blacksmith last time. God, I hope I made Tass pay in advance.
Hmmmm, since he looked poisoned even though the knife was probably the actual murder weapon. (no one has ever had food posioning at my inn), so I like ADG's logic and I'll go with CapitanGarlic even though it's probably a red herring.
