It was early in the morning. Before he left on his trip, mayor Rah wanted to withdraw some cash from the bank, but the door was locked. The mayor looked at his watch; this was very unlike MattH.
Mayor Rah went to the sheriff's station and alerted sheriff Tassadar. Together with deputy Jon Miller they went back to the bank, but it was still closed.

The three men decided to walk to MattH's house, which was just around the corner. Nobody answered the door.
"Well, jimminy-cricket!", Sheriff Tassadar exclaimed when he pulled down the door handle. The door opened and the sheriffs entered the house. "You'd better stay outside until we say it's safe to come in", said Jon Miller to the mayor.

"Alert the doctors", said sheriff Tassadar as he stood over the lifeless body of MattH.

"Cause of death seems to be asphyxiation, indicated by severe ligature marks on the throat area", said DrSpike, "We'll know more after the post."

As the village slowly woke up, a small crowd was drawn to the crime scene. Mayor Rah was being briefed by Jon Miller, and as always, village journalist Spiffor was at the scene, ready to report on the latest tragedy to hit the village.

It is now day.

Horror strikes Village! Guynemer brutally killed by Ghengisfarb!

Yesterday morning, we citizens of the Village gasped in horror as we witnessed the cruel assassination of Guynemer, our favourite innkeeper.

According to Doctors Spike and Zopperoni, the death happened near 1 AM, as a beyonet in perfect shape punctured Guynemer's heart. Guynemer was then attached to the flag pole of his inn, showing the monstrous murderer added insult to injury.

The waitress, HongHu, was understandably in shock, especially since Guynemer tried to protect her from the manipulative and hartless grasp of our mayor (see our investigation in yesterday's edition, available at The Clarion's office for 2 Lytons).

Our peaceful village has never known such a heinous crime, and Sheriff Tassadar had to take exceptional action: he gathered the population of the village to determine who was the killer.

Several clues led to GhengisFarb being the ignominious assassin. The perfect shape of the bayonet, and the work of precision showed clearly only a craftsman master of metal could have devised this plan.

The motive was still unknown, but we, at the Village Clarion, will keep you informed as soon as details are uncovered.

Rah and HongHu: Break up!
In a press conference today, RAH showed great cynicism, as he completely denied the allegations that he had an affair with HongHu. In the face of the evidence, such a blatant lie only shows he feels ashame of HongHu. Our mayor subtly admits he considers HongHu as nothing more than a sex toy he wants to hide from the others.

HongHu, in complete shock with the death of her protector Guynemer, only commented on the "menacing looks" of the mayor, also mentioning "certain connections". There is little doubt HongHu has first-hand information about this, thus proving once again our case against Rah's manipulation.

The first murder - impaled on a flagpole - leads us to the Comrade. We were all led astray by the bayonet clue, and missed the obvious flag connection with Tass!

I blame it on the Media. In fact I think this news stuff is just a cover for the Spiffor who is Tassadar's fellow Mafia.

The asphysixation is right in line with Spiff's job, he cuts off the breath of freedom and freedom of speech of his victims as he uses his own writings to control the village.
