In Kuwait it was pretty easy to find Subway and Burger King but here in Camp Iron Horse it's Army food or no food. I've been told there are a few Iraqi restaurants in town but many of the soldiers avoid them since this town is full of Saddam's supporters and family members. You never really know what they'll do to the food when you're not looking.

On the upside I'm told their is a BBQ Chicken place which cooks the chicken right in front of you but I haven't been able to go of base that much yet. I'll be sure to report back when I do though.

BTW Thanks everyone for the well wishes but please don't send any money. I'm getting paid well to be here and I know most people here at poly are starving students. A letter or just a post here would be much better then sending money.

When the money starts coming in. Myself I have at least $20 I'm willing to put in. I haven't checked email today but maybe 4 or 5 people have commited to pitching in up to this point. All this is no doubt lifting Oerdin's spirits, but as far as putting some stuff from home in his belly that will bring a smile...4 or 5 have asked for my mailing address to contribute. Add to this Zkribbler who will do what he said he'll do, and figure 5 or 6 sending maybe $10 or $20. We're looking at a hundred or so...

Just checked my email and nothing new from Poly folk. If everyone that commited truly helps out we'll have a hundred or so and therefore enough for one good care package.

I decided against buying you some seeds when I was in the supermarket today. It's better to have someone in southern US get them for you, so you get breeds that are better suited for the hot climate, with growing advice in English.

I have 12 bucks waiting in an envelope with Lancers adress. That was all I could find in my drawer, but I guess the amount is irrelevant. Now I only have to get the correct stamp and write a short personal greating before I send it.
