Do we know for a fact that CGN has been planning this unit teleport since 390AD? I was under the impression that it was us that told them they teleport their units, and this only a turn or two ago (430AD).

If they were not aware of this trick, then they should not be allowed to undo all the horrible moves they made in the intervening years. A whole five turns seems like an awful lot of leeway for a team that, let's face it, really screwed up their own chances at survival through horrible military tactics.

Tired of ads?

Miccofl informed me they planned on using the teleport a while back (couple weeks ago). Miccofl confirmed it 100% when they were playing the turn where they pillaged their roads.

A couple of weeks ago is 5 turns? On what turn did CGN pillage their Roads? I find it hard to believe that they were planning this all along...

420 AD, IIRC. Trust me, they were planning it, I was trying to convince them to do otherwise...

So would it not be a fair compromise to replay from 420AD instead of 390AD? I mean this as a compromise between those who voted against replaying and those who voted for.

Currently we're trying to add more to the "deal." Many of the people who have voted (and told me personally), voted against it because it did not mention anything about GCA, their units and their war with us. If we can sort things out at the UN and get GCA to agree to a deal favorable to us, then I have little doubt the vote will be much more positive.

Exactly. Why settle when we can push for more. We are in a seat of power right now. GWT can't see that it is best for CGN to replay the turn, they only think about their lost Ansar and the lost opportunity to attack Boston due to the gifting. hehe, what GWT may not realize is that CGN can gift us that city again, if they choose, as long as they have no units in the city.

I think GWT may be pushing GCA for this settlement and/or a combination of Lucky feeling guilty.

Increase Your PM Length

In principle I'm against going back this many turns and having a "redo", but I'm still voting yes in this case for 1 simple reason:

When we took part in the exploit we gave up any legit claim to a meaningful victory (should victory occur), by going back to so far before the exploit I think we in part gain that back should we pull off a win. Our reputation may still be a bit tarnished, but we can honestly say we did it to prove a point and when it came down to it we didn't object to undoing the damage once the point was proven.

As for how it helps/hurts CGN, I don't think that should factor into a decision like this.

One last thing: Get peace out of GCA as part of this deal. Disbanded units is cool, peace is better, both is perfect.

HELL'S TEETH this was close. With BF and MJW switching votes, the result at poll close seems to be 17 for and 16 against. As if it made a difference (why does all the important shite happen when I am chronically busy?) I would manually add a yes. A compromise like this with the stubbornness of the other teams will prove to be legendary, and it closes up the damn loophole.

Is it any wonder, with threads you post in, that some of us don't have the time to read everything?

OK, if you want to kill participation to those who have the ability to read every little thing that goes on here and at the UN, but I thought the aim was to INcrease participation in recent months....

Honestly though, it's not easy to tell exactly what has been happening and in what order. With several threads with polls in them appearing in a short space of time, you only need to be away or have limited time for a few days to get hopelessly lost and with no easy way of catching up.

Tired of ads?

Things have been flying for the past week. Sometimes it's hard to catch up even when you wake up...

There's just so much going on that if we don't post all the polls/threads that we do we run the risk of not informing of everything that is happening. It might be an information overload but it's far better than keeping everything behind closed doors.

This is OT so I apologize but BF it is probably one of the best conspiracy movies I have ever seen. I think you would like it.

For MWIA, the winds shifted on this issue faster than you could say "What next?" at the UN.

So you are correct it would be hard for someone to keep up with it unless you were at the UN forum and this forum everyday.

Im not sure what we could have done to make it better, it was just swaying back and forth way too darn fast.

Again, I beg to differ in that we really could've singlehandedly altered the course of the UN debate. I was looking back on the UN a few minutes ago and saw precisely where the plans to replay from 390 AD wen't astray:

From page 6 of the UN thread:

Trip:

quote:

We are close to an agreement.

Apolyton supports the proposal to return to 390 AD, and Apolyton and GCA are close to coming to an agreement about WW and reparations as well.

Do the teams have an official decision as to whether or not to return to 390 AD?

Apolyton will soon have an official decision, and as MZ said, it is currently positive.

Lucky:

quote:

GCA citizens have voted in favor of replaying from 390AD.

Trip:

quote:

Also, Apolyton and GCA have come to an agreement regarding WW and the previous teleportation.

Once teams vote on returning to 390 AD, we can continue the game.

Striker (GWT):

quote:

Ok, we would prefer to continue the game as it is, BUT

if all teams want to continue the game at 390AD than I'll say yes...
...let us play with friendship

Striker

a few more posts down:

Lucky:

quote:

Did CGN officially acknowledge the latest decisions?

Trip:

quote:

An official ratification of the whole package? Not sure.

They did approve of the 390 AD start (they did propose it after all ).

THEN HERE IS WHERE IT DAWNED ON GWT AND THEY BEGAN GETTING STUBBORN ABOUT REPLAYING FROM 390AD (also note that all previous support on replaying had come from everyone BUT zeri who is their turnplayer and leader)

Zeri (GWT):

quote:

why 390ad?
I must ask this again, i have looked on Shots from 420ad.
Boston and New Castle have all lux so no street was pillaged.

Netas troops can go faster on their streets as GWT can, so I see no reason for 390, only one: More time to go home for Neta.

I have ask the question yesterday or two days before and get the answer that in 390ad neta begun to plan the escape. Whats that for a plan, where nothing going on in three rounds?

Sorry, but this makes me very distrustful.
I'm tight of the answers

edit: It's possible that i haven't understand a post or overread a post, but please tell me again (?) why 390 is better then 420ad

Lucky (suddenly in support of GWT)

quote:

Besides CGN not yet acknowledging that we should restart play, we also have the issue that mongoose is not available at the moment. He hasn´t replied here or to any other forms of communications lately. :s

Now, I´ll gladly start playing tonight again, but I´d also like to have a go ahead from a majority including mongoose.

And yes, as zeri mentioned, 390AD might be the time the planning started but no action happened until at least 2 turns later.
So in effect you are weakening us, you are weakening GWTs position and strengthening Netatolias on a grand scale by giving them so much excess time. How is that fair since it was CGN that abused the unit jumping in the grandest scale of all?

AND FINALLY, THE BIG ONE:

Miccofl:

quote:

A mere thirty hours ago we were more than willing to copromise. Our official posts took great care not to use words that would inflame the situation; at the time, almost everyone else was doing the same. Then, something happened to change that; someone used the word cheat and directed it at us, a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. Well Mr. Pot, Mr. Kettle is here to inform you that you are just as black. The actions we took last turn were no more cheating than the actions that were taken 23 turns ago.

So now, it’s out in the open. We all cheated, we all had approval to cheat and we all took advantage. If we continue, this game will be forever tainted by it (regardless if we all agree to stop now or not.) The time for it to stop was many turns ago, not now. Regardless of the outcome, if we proceed, we are all going to look back on this and think; “They cheated!” I don’t think that is something that any of us want.

The only acceptable solution, one that eliminates cheating and the fact that everyone cheated, is to go back before the cheating started and “do over.” Yes, GCA gets the short end of the stick but that is the end they had before this whole mess started. Go back to before GCA made their teleport, and then we can go forward.

It went on downhill from there. If you look at the correspondance between us and CGN, we attempted to talk them into not replaying from 390 but a little afterwards but they refused and refused (I believe that chat was with SL3).

In this situation, honestly, tell me what we could have done to change what happened?

-MZ

More on the b*tchfight, this time on page 7 where GWT would have compromised on 410 (infinitely better than 440)

zeri:

quote:

Good idea, i'm for this

btw, i have to declare something: Distrust is for not the same as cheating. I don't know if it means the same in english or have the same intention, i'm only want to say that i don't think a team cheating in this game. I'm only distrust about 390ad.

410ad is not perfect, but it looks like a consens between Neta and GWT.
What thinks the other teams about this year for start again?

Miccofl:

quote:

CGN and GWT have not reached a consensus, 410 AD is unacceptable to us. Either back up to 390 AD, take it back to before the GCA teleport or we can sit here forever. We have compromised enough, every team has made concessions except for GWT who in cooperation with GCA (and a bad decision) started this whole mess.

here's the chat log bit with CGN:

quote:

[SL3] 0390ad is a very key turn, we did a lot that turn that we would do different if we are not to teleport
[conmcb25] OK on the last statement
[SL3] we may be able to work out turn 400 but I do not wish to see a pop 2 city or a pop 4 city fall into the hands of the webs
[conmcb25] "if we were not to teleport"
[conmcb25] Is that solid, what if it was gave us the cities?
[SL3] than turn 400 has possibilities
[conmcb25] See hat I mean does that change the equation?
[conmcb25] OK Xpost
[SL3] believe me we I say that our team had a very heated debate on turn 0390ad
[SL3] and turn 400 is too late and turn 410 is a NO
