I like that photo more because it seems more natural, less stagy. Also, the muted tones of it make it seem much more relaxed. Also, Mariah herself looks like a much more mature woman in the photo. The final touch is the smile which, while still present, does not seem so forceful as the previous one.

Those flecks are strands of hair.

The dot is my fault, since I'm trying a different image editing program.

One that does not leave a flippin' yellow band on the bottom of all of my pictures.
