The normal way of reparing windows and standard question of the SM-helpdesk:

Have you already tried to re-install windows? (or something like this)

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

I am logged on here from two different locations:

My work computer is a Dell Optiplex pIII running NT and IE6, on a T1 or better connection.

My home computer is an NEC pIII running Windows 98 and IE5, on a remarkably speedy 56K dialup.

My work comp auto-logs off several times a week, recently, often in the middle of sessions.

I don't remember the last time my home computer auto logged off.

I'm normally quite trigger-happy with formatting, but this one was forced upon me as Windows wouldn't start because of some crap at startup.

What you might want to try on your work-PC:

ZIP the complete temp-folder (just in case) and then delete all files, just remember all passwords you might need

And then try again, might help.

You can just wipe the disk cache by going into IE's settings.

Increase Your PM Length

But then it is gone for good, if you zip it and you recognise that you can't remember this important password anymore you can revert back If everything works you can still delete the zip.......

I don't think using the IE thing clears out the cookies, just the cached webpages.

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

I've never had any problems with MSIE, Opera, Mozilla or Mozilla Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox, when surfing on ACS with cookies.

Yep, it just cleares the normal files, like html/jpeg/gif and so on, but not cookies. And it isn't even only applicable for cached webpages. IE stores a lot of 'rubbish' while browsing. (like links for history-file, depending on your settings (default=20 days) this can be quite a lot)
