Whoever's directly above this post (sorry, I don't know how to quote), you're probably right. Yang probably sees liberals as complete idiots. All he wanted was a perfect society, I just don't understand how holing up in the ground to muffle the cries of tortured citizens is going to create "Utopia".

I'm still not convinced that the Hive tortures more than any other faction. Certainly they use physical punishment (Punishment Spheres even?), but they also encourage overcoming physical stimuli (The Ascetic Virtues?). In the AC fiction there are Spartan's murdering "unsuitable" children and the University's use of genetically modified servile classes ("genejacking"). I don't think Yang's Hive are a pack of carebears, but I also don't think he is the sole monster on Chiron.

To support this claim, look at faction advantages and disadvantages. The university is the only faction to get extra drones, not the Hive, which means, Zakhorav has come down lower than Yang's level of morality. How sad. For a long time I thought he was a great guy. You know, I can't think of one leader that isn't totally fanatic and insane about there idealogies.

I think that you are correct about this, and that it was totally deliberate on the part of the designers.

Even Pravin Lal is an absolute fanatic about his ideology, it is just that people who are fanatical about humane ethics don't seem as offensive to us as people who are fanatical about other things.
