You PMed me? I can only figure that I accidentally thought it was an older PM when I cleaned out my box. My abject apologies on that.

I'm going to just try to check this thread every day. If it's burried at the bottom of the PBEM Forum abyss, I'll just go looking for it. That should solve the problem.

on to jagjef. A bit of advice con - use the lux sllider for the affected 5 turns or so. Well worth the loss of the 2 turns in actual research it amounts to.

do you receive the:
Use 'Email Notification' by default?
Using this option emails you whenever someone replies to a thread that you have participated in.

this way you will know when people have posted to this thread, and have a quick link to it

another idea that I find handy with PBEM games, is to have a folder in my outlook that contains one of these emails for each of the games that I am currently playing... this way when there has not been a save arrive for sometime, and no one has posted for a while, I have an automatic link to the thread, and do not have to search several pages of threads

It is a gamble. It takes 10-18 turns to build a grainary (depending on if there are forests to chop). People usually start only 10-12 turns away. If you are unlucky, you get a warrior on your door prior to any defenders or even scouts to show the way for your counter attack. Also, you miss out on getting goodie huts. But if you get lucky, you have 4 cities while everybody else is founding their second, and that means that you have a much better chance of scaring off anybody who gets near you and have a much better chance of winning in the long run. Population is production is power in this game.
