Yes - back into town just today. Sorry for the delay. I was out of town at a conference. And it was in Quebec City - a beautiful place. And I got to walk the Plains of Abraham where Wolfe and Montcalm decided the fate of Canada.

If you call a single exploring warrior entering an undefended city a "warrior rush", then yes. Beta was screwed on the shields front and couldn't get a warrior ready in time without hampering growth. I would have played in the same way on his place. I deeply regret to eliminate a civ that early and understand, that this takes options and thus, fun out of the game, but if you see our strategical location later on I'm sure you will understand my decision.

i was just wondering...

but yes, it is a warrior rush. just seems strange that you guys started so near to each other on a small map.

in my c3c-pbem-tournament game i had wonderful growth (floodplains, 2 wheat, lots of rivers), but virtually no production. the hills only got useful after mining and roading them (18 turns) and from the floodplains i lost a total of 3 citizens to disease. i presume something similar was around beta's starting location

There's been a discussion in another game (Europe in flames), where Chrisius Maximus was taken out by Arnelos (editted, mistook Alexman for this just action) in the same way (undefended city). In my opinion it's anyone's obligation to take out anyone who is undefended. It's the risk one takes. The game should be played to win.

Beta announced there was a game were he had suffered the same fate. Obviously that has been this game.

I had one last card up my sleeve to play. Unfortunately it was only the four of spades - a poor card at best - and Sir Ralph did not fall for it.
