Nah. I'd say give us the DAR, and we'll sort it out.

And how much time does it take to write a normal story? |
Wellllll.... It depends on the author, the DAR, the day of the week we start writing, the weather outside at the time of the writing, and the author's relationship with his girlfriend at the moment. Seriously, there are so many factors governing this that I wouldn't dare estimate. Sometimes it takes me an hour to whip a short story like Reload in my sig up. At other times, it'd take me a few days. It all depends. More epic stories, obviously, take more time. I believe Mike's Story by Chrisius was over a year in writing, for instance.

And how many words? |
How many do you want?
It depends on the topic, and the level of development you want to achieve. Some things I can write thousands and thousands of words on. Others... Well, for some things I can barely squeeze 200 words out of myself.

If that's better for you, it's better for me.

I was thinking about one year. How long was "Mike's Story?"

I was thinking more thousands and thousands Is at least 10,000 a pretty good goal to aim for?

Well, I looked up some of Chris's stories, and found that Mike's Story was not that long in the writing, it was "The Fight For Freedom" I was thinking of, which is an even more civ-like story, that took so long. (Of course, it's immaterial which story it was, since this is just an example.) You can check out "The Fight For Freedom" here:

The first post was made 22-12-2002, and the epilogue was posted 05-01-2004 - a little over a year, as you can see. And you can judge how long it is yourself.

Well, thing is, I, personally, never liked to measure stories/essays in the number of words. IMO, whatever gets it done is good.
So I think the good way to go about this is for someone like you to supervise the process of writing and give directions. Like you want a certain area to be covered in more depth. Or maybe you want a certain character developed more thoroughly. Or maybe, on the contrary, you would like some rosyness to be cut in places. Then, however many words we come out with, that's how many we'll have.
I wouldn't set a number in advance and try to reach it, but instead just let it flow naturally and go with however many we get.

Ok..I am getting a grip on what your looking for.
It would be many writers (Yes please count me in!) developing a story based on "Your" DAR..we would simply write about it.
Am I close?
Or
do many writers write different stories based upon DAR in a game we each have individually played?
Look at it like this:
I am a hunting dawg, ok?
I am in a box on the back of the truck and your the great white hunter.
You know what your looking to have as a trophy kill, ok?
But, I dont quite know until I get let loose from this "box" and you take my leash off, and let me run down this story (Trophy), ok?
I promise to hunt real good for you just need a "leetle" direction.!
When I was a mere lad in the 7th grade, I asked my writing lab teacher for direction on what exactly I should write about. I got possibly the best learning tool I ever used. She told me to go get my dictionary (pre online one, ya had to actually "open" a book!) and I closed my eyes and had to put my finger on 25 words and then take the 25 words and make a story based upon a subject that she would pick out. It may have been about a family picnic, a basketball game, a storm or just a walk in the snow, but it made me stop and think.
The second best training tool was we took a tape recorder and had to make 10 "commericals" from 10 items we drew from a hatr and then make up a name and a selling tool for each, I drew a lawnmower and then had to take 10 words from my dictionary and make them "fit". The words were drawn prior to me knowing my subject.
This would be what I would refer to now as "Thinking outside the box"
At any rate (Longwinded aint I? )
1000 words or 10,000 words aint no problemo fer Hermano Bruce!
Peace

A group of writers will be writing a story based on a DAR of my choosing. Hope that helps

Alexander, Shaka, Joan, and Catherine found themselves wandering through a weird place. Everything was white, including their clothes, hair, teeth, eyes, skin, they were all dopplegangers, blank persons except for a knowledge of their own name.
Catherine spoke up, "Is this heaven?"
"Ha! If this were heaven YOU certainly wouldn't be here, and there would definitely be like at least 400 hot chicks for every pound of flesh you drag around." Alexander snorted.
"Yeah besides, we got ol' baldy over here," Shaka said motioning to Joan.
"GIVE ME A BREAK!! We're all white haired now, we all look friggin' bald!" Joan retorted.
"What should we do?" Catherine wondered aloud.
"Well, one thing that seems to work a lot in these little 'situations' is to break character and just lay a big fat WTF on that guttersnipe, Metaliturtle."
"Good idea!"
"Hey Metaliturtle! Why did you stick us in this freaked up messed out place anywho?"
Metaliturtle was a bit flustered, but he answered as best as he could, "well guys, it looks as if the parties in power wish this one to be written based on a DAR. I'm supposed to get clued in from Nuclear Master I think."
Shaka, who had kinda become the 'spokesman' of the quartet, really didn't know what a DAR was, "DAR? You mean a Drunken Armadillo Rebellion? Wow, that's an awesome idea for a story! I would read that for sure, and we get to take part in this Drunken Armadillo Rebellion too? Man dude, we get all the breaks in your stories, you're the only one who lets us fight mammals that are less susceptable to car damage!"
"Whatever!" Joan retorted, "DAR doesn't stand for Drunken Armadillo Rebellion! It stands for Dynamic American Robots, and obviously we're going to have to fight that prude Lincoln in a cataclysmic battle of wits and technological fortitude to deal with just how Dynamic these American Robots could potentially be. They could even be really responsible for the way Metaliturtle confuses us."
"You are both very much wrong," Stated a know-it-all-sounding Catherine, "Everyone knows that DAR means Daring Assassins of Russia, this is going to be one story where my beauty is going to be appreciated by all... or else!"
Metaliturtle chuckled, "Actually I think someone told me it was a During Action Report, it's like a newspaper of the existence of the world."
Alexander brightened up a little, "You mean like an Adult newspaper?"
"NO!!"
"Bummer" His face grew sullen.
"Wait a minute, you said this person was a master of things nuclear?" Alexander was intrigued once more.
"Umm.. his name is Nuclear Master."
"So his words are backed with Nuclear Weapons then"
"Kinda hard to Master Nuclear stuff otherwise isn't it?"
"Why in the world did you not offer him your whole entire nation if he would refrain from using such weapons?!?!"
"Because I don't go to war with people for having a hot personal trainer!"
"Too bad dude, those hostage trainers give you some of the best workouts ever, one time there was this Roman chick tha-"
"You're done Alexander" Metaliturtle had silenced him for the rest of the story.
"Good riddance," The other characters muttered almost in unison.
"Well, now what do we do?" Catherine asked.
"Seeing the current state of our Grecian friend, I believe our best bet would be charades." Shaka said.
"I am not letting you guys play charades while people are watching, someone always puts down "Mouthful" and things just get gross and pornographic." Metaliturtle ended them there in the formless world.
((Hey Nuclear Master I understand about computer problems, and it's really no big deal to me, I just thought this would be funny, I mean, who doesn't want to see a Drunken Armadillo Rebellion in our time? Not me sirrah... Not me.
But in all seriousness, I didn't mean to offend you, and if I did I can always edit!))
