MWIA

I have thanked you in the past for your assistance and more or less told you I think you should be a counsul.

We live in a instantaneous gratification culture. And its getting worse all the time.

I know it would have been one other thing to do BUT what you probably should have done is post in the nomination thread or in this thread you were moving into a new flat and would be unavailable BUT you still wanted to run and after the move you would have the time to play.

Please dont develop a sour grapes attitude about this. Chaulk this one up to a simple lack of communication.

And PLEASE PLEASE continue to contribute to the team.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Hmm, I've only been lurking here on and off, but this actually caused me to post here again. I'm probably going to take some crap for stating this, but that's okay since I'm not that active anymore anyway.

If MWIA wants to be a whiny child and leave then let him. No one (and I certainly won't) can question that he has been an active and dedicated member of 'Poly demogames. But to completely leave because you lost a vote against an equally active and dedicated member of the team is childish. It's the old bat and ball syndrome ("I didn't get my way so I'm taking my bat and ball and going home"). Sorry to tell you this MWIA (if you come back), but you can't always get your way in life, no matter how much you want to do so. You just have to suck it up and move on and try again later. That's life no matter how much we'd have it otherwise.

Now I hope you're really not that childish and come back to the team since you were one of the active members, unlike myself. That would be the mature thing to do, and I hope you do that.

If you do come back and read this I imagine you'll be angry with me. Sorry for that, but I'm just stating the truth as I see it. No hard feelings.

Knowing MrWIA, I think he already regrets saying and doing what he's done. He may have felt as if there were some sort of conspiracy against him; heck, I thought I'd lose this to him hands down! So, I can understand where he might think so. Please come back WIA!

Rhoth has a point. MrWIA was being childish. I think when his emotion subside a bit he'll see that there wasn't a conspiracy against him. BigFree is active and is extremely available right now due to his unfortunate injury IRL. BigFree has experience and is qualified for the job.

WIA was hurt by not being around during the election because he was moving and that's probably what did him in. That wasn't his fault, of course, but no one seems to know about it and he lost a lot of potential votes by being "MIA" at the time.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Nope, no hard feelings against Rho or Togas or BF, or any one. And I did not think about any ludicrous 'conspiracy' idea. I do not mind losing to BF, or anyone at Poly (with one exception, of course....), and BF is, as you say, eminently qualified.

However I do not know if anyone else would manage to keep their spirits up having lost three consecutive Consular elections, particularly where there was fierce campaigning done for all three of them, and one was against an (until then) absentee Consul. And my %age of votes has WORSened as well! However, it really seems as though, with a few days' absence from posting in election threads here, I was considered MIA without any real consideration, nor PMs, nor emails to ask WTF was I doing. As far as I knew things were great, I had posted a lot leading up to the election, and I knew I had a number of people who had been urging me on for the previous three months. Imagine my shock at seeing that I did not even manage to secure the votes of all of those I thought had been pushing me to run in the first place (nor the votes of all of those who have since PMed me).

Perhaps it still seems childish to some of you guys - well I'm possibly not going to be able to convince anyone that my thoughts were otherwise. All I can do is ask everyone who thinks so to try to realise how disappointed you can get if failure goes on long enough. In RL failure gets me straight away - online I last a little longer, but when it hits it still hits hard and hurts.

I think your supporters possibly didn't show up to vote because of the weekend. 12 voters is a mighty low turnout. I always hated elections that went over the weekend. Perhaps we should poll all elections over a 5 day period so as to minimize the effects of weekends?

Anything like that would require a constitutional amendment.

I would vote for that.

2 days used to be ridiculous at the PtW ISDG, three days is the bare minimum.

Maybe Ill do an amendment proposal when I get a chance.

Unless someone beats me to it :hint: :hint:

Suffering from ads?

Five days, imho, is a bit too much. Perhaps, instead of lengthing the period, why not mandate that no elections take place during a weekend?

For example, if the eigth of the month fell on a Sunday, elections would start on Monday, the ninth. If the eight fell on a Thurdays, elections would start on Wednesday the seventh. etc.

Why is 5 days too long? Sometimes people have fits of RL happening. 5 days gives more people a chance to vote. It's not like the team would be without ledership during that time; like a real game period of Anarchy!

I agree - 5 days is not so much. And we have 3 consuls, the inactivity of one should not stop the progress of the game.

I disagree as well.

The goal is to maximize participation. This will help it.

And the idea that people need to check the forums more often or be more participative up front is flawed. Not all of us are and not all of us can check these forums everyday.
