Being gay is not like deciding not to have kids. You don't just say "I'm gay woohoo." You are ATTRACTED to the SAME sex, meaning you have a genetic problem (so yes, it is like a genetic disease, or being infertile, in that it needs to be treated, not trumped up)

Again, the monk is not born with a Monk gene, nor does he ever develop a biological Monk gene.

Being gay hasn't been shown to be genetic. When it is, if you believe it to be a problem, you can call it such. Until then, it's not a genetic problem, however positive or negative it is.

If he's born with a calling from God? Or even if not, he's as born with a desire for God as a gay man is for another man. Th idea of being celebate was that you were, in effect, married to God, and your life devoted to him. So surely being attracted to God, and thus shunning women, is the same, in terms of genetics, as being attracted to men, and thus shunning women?

There are no problems with being gay.
The problems that gays experience, is due to living in a heterosexist, and in too many cases, homophobic society. But there are no inherent problems in being gay.
