I drove across the state to get to my job interview. Central Florida is still saturated with water. The runoff ditches are all still full, and an exit I used was almost under water. There were whole sections of trees twisted like match stickes, and steel i-beams curled like pipe cleaners. One nice thing is that most of the billboards are gone.

Right now, Jeanne is predicted to come ashore exactly where Frances did. Then she'll come by my place. But it's still many days away, and I'm pretty sure she's gonna turn north. I don't know yet whether that's good or bad for me. If it does hit, at least I won't be alone. Bunnygrrl comes home on Saturday.

Well, the renters insurance is still good. Apparently they can't cancel a contract when a storm is on the way.

Jeanne has speed up, which is goo and bad. It's good cuz that means it's likely to go west of Jacksonville, but it's bad since it's gonna hit a day early, which means that Bunnygrrl's flight will likely be canceled. Stupid hurricane.

Jeanne is expected to reach Cat 3, possibly Cat 4, strength before making landfall, but is also supposed to lose strength rapidly, so that it will "merely" be a tropical storm by the time it reaches us. Frances was far away and still f*cked us over.

After some time tomorrow night, I may not be able to log on for a bit. The power is likely to go out and stay out for a while. At least our apartment complex's wires are underground, so falling trees won't take out the wires . . . unless they get pulled up by the roots. We had peope without power up to a week after the storm.

If the power does go out, I may not be able to file for my unemployment, so I may not be able to pay my rent, but hopefully the company will cut us some slack with the storm and all.

Jeanne has now cost me personally close to $1000. I can't get a loan closed in Titusville due to State Farm having a freeze on ANY changes to an insurance policy. All I needed was a loss payee change. I could see it if I was requesting a change in coverage or coverage amount, but a loss payee??? My loan officer is losing his entire commission for the mont, as this is the loan that would put him over goal...nearly $3K to him. Needless to sy...he ain't happy.

I hate Hurricanes.
