Yes. He benefits disproportiontely more from our government protections. It's a geometric progretion, not an arithmatic one.
Now, if the actual amount your father pays is $70K a year in income taxes he's making $265,000 a year, not counting for deductions. Add in deductions, exemptions, etc. and with that specific number on taxes, he's probably making close to $300K a year. So, in actuality, your father only paid 23% of his income in income taxes.
That's assuming you didn't simply multiply $175K * 40% to come up with the $70K number. If your father made $175K, then he paid $39K in income taxes, not accounting for deductions and what not. Add those in and he paid around $31K in incomes taxes, which is around 18%.
So stop whining.

Why? What do earnings have to do with anything? Earnings simply represent a private agreement between two parties, and have nothing to do with the government.

Kaak you are arguing with people who are a lost cause to society. These people are cast out, on the fringes of a reality only they live in. These are the same people that hail the terrorists as freedom fighters and "sympathize" with people like Osama Bin Laden. These are the same people that hear about a man committing suicide over the election and call it an act of symbolism and bravery. Luckily for us these people are in the minority and they always will be as long as people who live in the real world exist. Their constant whining and distress over being the losers of the country only further satiate my palate. I look down upon the miscreants of Apolyton with grim amusement at their pathetic excuses for "ideals". Oh yes, all hail the People's Republic of Apolyton, yes indeed.

The IRS always gets a bad rap. If the politicians used the money more efficiently (read: more pork in my state) then I wouldn't complain.

You should take your own advice. A simple history of your posts will prove that you are a 1 line poster. I'm sorry if you were simply incapable of comprehending what I wrote up there.

A person makes $20,000 (around the poverty line). 92% of that is $18,400.
The poor guy can hardly make ends meet (if he can do it at all). He can't any retraining for a newer, better job because the government doesn't have the money to teach him new skills. He will always be on the lower end. His kids will be on the lower end. They may turn to crime, who knows, because the neighborhood the poor guy is living in has crappy schools, because property tax revenue low. And what hope is there of paying for his kid's college making so little?
Which one would you rather be?
I'm very far from being a socialist, but I find people who say it is 'fair' to have a flax tax to be utter morons in every sense of the word. |

I wouldn't go so far as to claim that. Lets just call you a middle of the line liberal and be done with this pretending to be a conservative stuff.

No, we talking about taxes. I'm not interested in fairness when private, voluntary agreements are the issue - people can and should look out for their own interests. If you can non-coercively negotiate an unfair contract, I'm not gonna stop you.
