Not that it matters much in this instance, but I've often wondered if the mods realise that whenever they close a thread (for whatever reason), every living soul on the forum will probably check it out very carefully to see what happened.

I thought so too, but the "lowest common denominator" rule probably got applied -- it's not a question of what the average person finds offensive, it's a question of what the most (overly-)sensitive person finds offensive.

I don't like it when they disappear, especially if they're only a bit borderline, because then it's confusing - where'd it go? Did it drop a few pages? And you waste a lot of time looking for it.
