Tired of ads?

He's tired of being a heathen!

For the Cbeast question. Cbeast were created by walruskkkch, you may remember him from Kbeasts. I merely realized the importance of controling Cbeast populations in other forums like this one. If a forum is seeming to have any problems, Cbeasts are usually the primary culprit and should be hunted to keep their populations in check.

Got one in this thread!

.......and not particularily true.

About a decade ago a Southern Baptist congregation in a nearby city was in need of a new building. Their prayers were answered when a member came forth with a donation of one million dollars. No one bothered to ask how a mere bank clerk happened to have one million dollars. Shortly after the building was completed the lady was arrested for embezzlement. Even though the theft was covered by insurance because money had been removed continually over a period of time before it was discovered the bank had appeared to be in decline and so lost business. It went bankrupt after the embezzlement was discovered causing dozens of people to lose their jobs including one of my wife's relatives. Before going bankrupt the company had gotten its employees to surrender their pensions and health insurance. The net effect was not only that dozens of people lost their jobs but also their retirement and their health. At least one may have died because of her inability to pay for healthcare.
During the embezzler's trial her co-parishoners demonstrated outside the courthouse demanding leniency from the court. She received a minimal sentence and was back at church after a mere 6 months in prison. AFAIK she was never ejected form the church. The minister of the church apologized for the woman's behavior but also announced that the church would not be making any efforts at restitution. They didn't even make an attempt to assist the employees who had been victimized

But you know what else, Dr. Strangelove? The Southern Baptist Church, eh um, Denomination is actually separated within itself. It is actually thousands of separate churches in one. Each church has it's own doctrine and distinct requirements for membership. But generally speaking, the the Southern Baptist Denomination is one of the most conservative of all the denominations.

Hope that helps.

Curious your point on the distinctions made between water baptism, and the baptism of the spirit.

Water baptism is like a confession of faith. A person who has become saved can be baptized to "make it official". Water baptized is not required to be saved but it is recommend.

Baptism in the Spirit is where a believer receives the Holy Spirit for the first time. It is not required but it is recommended. Assembly of God churches also believe that a person will speak in tonques when they are baptized in the Spirit.

That's typical of Southern Baptist churches. It's all about appearance. What goes on behind the scenes is always another matter.
