Put an end to popups!

Once you know the continent and also that it's coastal, you go hunting for interesting locations. This was a good choice for the quiz!

Now to wait for my turn. Guess!

London.

I'd like to suggest that (if possible) pics should have enough info so that we have a chance of identifying the location from clues in the pic. Then we could include locations rather than just cities.

I don't think this was ever a city quiz. People can post pics of anything, but of course it has to be "guessable". We've had a number of pictures of ruins and the like, and it's all fine with me. As long as it can be reasonably figured out.

Winston is a winner!

I seriously thought about giving some other location if your reply wasn't true

Now, how the heck did you find that if you didn't know about that place beforehand?

As I said, continent, coastal and a little hunting. It really helped when you posted the overview, because then we were able to get a feel for the surrounding coastal layout, including part of the cape. And it was also evident from the pictures that this was an important port for the country in question.

Time for the next challenge, where is this from?

Hello.

Do you need clues already, or are ya'll just being lazy.

Hm, maybe I'll do like Spiffor and post another pic from the same place, hang on.

Edit: Okay, apparently you can't edit in pictures.

Sorry about all this, it's very late here.

Here's another one, same city as the one above.

The cross on the gate-tower looks to be from Greek or Romanian orthodox and the shape suggests a moslem influence so I'd guess this is the balkans or nearby. It would help if the fountain pic was higher resolution.

I can't think of any European coastal capital that could look like this.

Just for the sake of guessing: Tirana?

No it's not Tirana. Maybe the last pic isn't the most flattering of this fine city, but I had to preserve a bit of the mystery by not posting "postcard views".

Gangerolf seems to be on to something, so I'll help out a little by guessing also.

Kathmandu?

No, sorry.

Very flat, coastal, capital city, apparently European, and southern at that...

Is there any place in southern Europe that is fricking flat? I would think of Varna, but it's not a capital city

We need more people to make guesses so that Gangerolf can take home the prize, again...

It is in Europe yes, and remember, Paris was closer than Sevilla.

Tirana seems to be the only coastal capital in Southern Europe, maybe it's a river? Let's see what the G has to say.

If Paris is closer than Seville, I doubt it's Southern.

Dublin is correct!

The pictures show:

1) Fountain named "Floozy in the Jacuzzi"
2) Bell Tower of Trinity College. Legend has it that the bells ring at midnight in the event a virgin walks by
3) View of part of Dublin's port, to be developed into housing districts in the future, with Clontarf in the background

And here's another bonus pic, showing an actual hardware store front in Dublin. Must be a great tourist attraction, don't you think?

Duh I'm stupid.

Very flat, very green, and the religious architecture made entirely of stone... How couldn't I think of Ireland?
