I think Packers will take Minnesota. They have beaten them twice this year, once when Minnesota had Moss. The Packers are a better team then in the beginning of the season, they will be almost injury free by the playoff game, and Minnesota's moral will be down, because of losing the last two games, and every game when played with the Packers. It is a playoff game at Green Bay, so I think the odds are really in the Packs favour.

I was kind of rooting for the Panthers, I knew they were a long shot. Losing these games at the end hurt them though.

And congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The first AFC team to get 15 wins in a season.

No, there was no OTHER time... that is why they are the FIRST AFC team to win 15 in the regular season .

Miami only played 14 games as that was the length of the season back then.

Suffering from ads?

Miami was never in the NFC.

And the 16 game schedule didn't come into effect until the '78 season.

The first team to win 15 wins was the 1984 49ers. That was followed by the 85 Bears, then the 98 Vikings (who lost in the NFC Conference Championship to the 14-2 Falcons, in one of the All Time great games in NFL history).

that was a pretty cool game. And didn't the Vikings field goal kicker go the entire season without missing a field goal only to miss one at the end that would have tied the game (or possibly won it- I can't remember exactly)

And yes. Miami only won 14 games. 14 wins and 0 losses. So that's a tricky fact. Something that might stump people at parties in the future.

Wildcard weekend:

Packers and Colts are obvious picks. The other two are a little tougher.

A Chargers win is likely, because although the Jets are good, I'm not sure they're really "dangerous." The real tossup is the Rams against the Seahawks. Both teams don't deserve a playoff spot, and they're pretty evenly matched. The Rams are an abysmal 2-6 on the road, but they swept Seattle this year.

I call that none of the wildcard teams will win.

If it made it, they would have won in regulation. Minny was up by 7. GARY Anderson (as opposed to MORTON Anderson who was Atlanta's kicker ) missed the FG and then Atlanta drove to tie the game and send it into OT.

Colts aren't a shoe in. But they are a favourite. They beat up on Denver fairly easily last year. But the revenge factor is possible.

Packers seems like a good bet. But I wouldn't bet my bank on it.

I believe the Chargers will win. If they were playing in New York, I'd probably favour the jets. But I think a friendly environment will help them.

and you are right. The rams and seahawks are a tossup. Rams beat them twice, but you know Seattle is going to want to right that fact. Because of the revenge factor, I have to go with Seattle.

I'd pick the Rams. The Seahawks are crap. They almost lost today. To a Falcons team led by a rookie QB. They just have an inability to close out any game.

The Colts are absolutely a shoe-in. If Manning got injured and was taken out on the first play, I'd still pick the Colts. Sorgi had a higher QB rating than Plummer. That's a problem.

The Colts have no depth at RB. They got only 32 yards rushing with no rushing TDs and a fumble.

Edgerrin James will likely run for 132+ yards and at least one TD next game.

That would be enough to sway the game right there. Without the fumble and such good time of possession stats, the Broncos would have lost.

Then you add the best QB since Elway...

So what are all your thoughts on Philadelphia?

2 losses to close the season. Yes we could argue the point that resting and preventing your starters from getting injured is more important. But I disagree.

I hate to say this because I don't think the Falcons are that good. But I believe they will beat Philly in the championship game and go to the superbowl.

Atlanta vs. Philly is a toss up without TO. But you never know, upsets happen, and one of those teams may not make it to the Conference Championship.

If it was in the Dome, I could see Atlanta maybe having a chance, but in Philly, I think the Eagles beat the Falcons.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

AFC: The Jets might pull an upset, but I think both home teams advance to the divisional playoffs, where they promptly get squished by the Patriots and Steelers. The championship game proves a war of attrition, but youth and power is served, and the Steelers go to Jacksonville.

NFC: Again the home teams survive wild-card weekend (despite the Rams giving Seattle a run for its money). Philly survives by the skin of its teeth against Seattle, and then goes down in the NFC championship game for the fourth year in a row. Atlanta can win big games on the road (they dominated Green Bay in Lambeau in January and were *this* close to giving Tampa a chance to HOST the NFC championship game two years ago) and Philly's offense is severely crippled without T.O.

Doesn't matter who comes out of the NFC, though - the AFC is winning the big game this year regardless of which division winner comes out with the crown. In this case, Roethlisberger makes history and Pittsburgh beats Atlanta in a showdown of the new generation of QBs.

If Owens can come back to full strength by the Super Bowl (pushing it, I know), the Battle of Pennsylvannia may be an amazing game and I'd say that would go either way.

I highly doubt, that Owens will be back in any way for the Super Bowl. And Philly will dominate Seattle if that match happens, they are a much better team even with out Owens.

I can't believe what Holmgren did, his starting RB - Shaun Alexander - needed 1 ******* yard to tie for the league lead in rushing yards and he has his QB run a sneak from the 1 yd line with ~4 minutes to go and his RB never got another chance to run the ball.

Anyway, my play off picks

SD over NYJ 24-21
Indy over Denver 38-28

GB over Minn 34-21
StL over Seattle 31-17

And to add well, more injury to injury, the Vikings SS Chavous has a broken elbow from today's game, and won't play in the Packers game. He had seventy-seven tackles this season, and one interception. He seemed to be someone who boosted moral in the locker room. Bye bye Minnesota!
