May I just say how wonderful and important it is to me to have the place to come to when I need it. Right now there is so much food and people in the house I just needed to take a moment to get away and I just cannot find the words to express what a comfort it has been for me to be able to come here and retreat for a moment.

Mark you have my heartfelt thanks for this place and everyone on this board please know how much your thoughts and kindness and just being here for me to come and vent when need......**crying** well....just how very special this is for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart (and a few other assorted places ) **lame attempt at humor** but I'm trying.

I didn't do anything special. You know several people have told me that I took such good care of him etc.....

See to me I don't think I did anything special, I fact it was a bit selfish on my part because I just wanted so much more time with him and took all I could get. I just simply did what any child would do for their parent. He used to hold my hand and help me with I was sick so it was my privalege to do the same for him. We had a long journey together and it was my job to end the journey with him. And on that note I think I will go lie down and try to nap before I drive 6 hours to pick up his grandchildren and turn around and come back.

You know Tia, my grandmother died a while ago. A couple of weeks before she suddenly fell ill and was put into coma from which she never awoke. The thing is, that in the last years of her life she has lived life to the fullest, and when she was in her death-bed, she was constantly surrounded by her children and grandchildren. (she passed away before my eyes in fact) She had died happily and that was a great relief to me.
What I'm trying to say is that you've been real close with your father in the last stage of his life, and I think he may not have wished a better ending than to be with his loved one(s). I hope that the thought he died happily will be as much a consolation to you as it has been to me....

Remember him with pride - there seem to be a million reasons.

I was not that sad when my father died, because I knew it was coming. I had been mourning his death for two years before it happened. I had cried in front of my drinking buddies several times and explained to them my dad had cancer. So I had lots of time to prepare myself mentally, and let out some steam.

I come to think that when somebody who loves you so much passes away, he/she actually never leaves you by the true sense of the word, for you are as the person that you are, a result of his/her love.

My prayers go out for you and the great man that your dad was.
