Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I am reminded of a scene in "Children of a lesser God" where Marlee Matlin (deaf & beautiful) asks William Hurt to show her what music is.
He tries to "dance / mime / put in gestures" what music is but just ends up looking like an idiot.

Great movie. Good scene. And of course Marlee Matlin is hittable.

Used to do the arrangements and keyboards for Massive Attack, and did the score for "Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet".

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I think any music I like makes me sit here and smile, relaxed. Recently I've gone a little off the very soft, typically relaxing music, like Damien Rice and Tom McRae. Somehow it's begun to make me feel a a little sad, as I'm sure is intended, so I've been listening to Hell is for Heroes, Massive Attack, Haven, Goldrush and Velvet Revolver. They all make me sit here, contemplative and relaxed, without the loneliness that my poor overused phone has been trying to overcome.

I think I can find most music comforting, either because of a beautiful sentiment or because it makes me realise how lucky I am, and how promising things are. Sometimes the Polyphonic Spree are called for for an evening of bliss, and sometimes I feel like reminising, strangely about everything, and listen to Air - You Make it Easy.

I think I use music as a tool to comfort me, to put me in a state where I can think, remember, act and smile.

Mostly it's been Velvet Revolver and Hell is for Heroes lately. The later because it's optimistic but scathing in such a way that it makes me smile, as I know it's changable. Velvet Revolver is a strange one to me, it's great music and can be a pleasant memory trip or an optimistic, but realistic and scathing feeling about the future, but mostly because I love that they've gone through so much and have come out almost better for it, with a mindset they wouldn't otherwise have. I can forgive Scott Weiland for preaching whatever it was he was saying , for trying to make philosophical points, because you could see in his eyes that he meant it.

Somehow it all reminded me of a discussion I had with some writer last term, about the concept of Authenticity - what is was and whether it mattered. Does it matter if something is not real, if it is in your mind, or on the internet? I'm begining to think if it's authentic to you, it's real enough to not have a distinction.

Check out his album 'The Space Between Us' which also features the heavenly vocal talents of Liz Fraser, ex-Cocteau Twins singer.

He also does a groovetastic version of 'Houses in Motion' by Talking Heads.

I recently purchased his album 'Piano Works' too, which is seriously blissed out music. Goes well with post-coital feelings....
