Are you sure that you rewritten 1st save game file with 2nd save? It seems that i saved a game instead of pressing "end turn" for the first time. But i checked 2nd save before sending - it was a Hive turn.

second save was a file called 'university.sav' - how this could overwrite newbies-hive-2107.sav ?

having troubles?

Go to the "Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri" directory and find the file "Alpha Centauri.Ini". Open it. Scroll down to the bottom. You should see a list of seven faction names. These determine the graphics of the factions in the game you're running. Problem is when you open a scenario or multiplayer game, this list doesn't update. Instead IIRC it keeps the faction graphics of the last normal single person game you ran.

To circumvent this problem, there are two methods:

Before opening a multiplayer game first start up a new single player game with the same factions in the same order as in the multiplayer one. Immediately quit. Now the correct graphics are saved in the ini-file and you can savely open the MP game.

The second method is manually changing the list in the Alpha Centauri.Ini file.

example:

Faction 1=GAIANS
Faction 2=HIVE
Faction 3=UNIV
Faction 4=ANGELS
Faction 5=MORGAN
Faction 6=SPARTANS
Faction 7=PEACE

Its because it is Smax with nonstandard faction setup, to correct graphic you need to edit faction names alphax.ini file..

or better yet, just live with it
